Funeral Mass for Miguel Andres Jimenez, 79, of Veblen, SD will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at St Johns Catholic Church, Veblen, SD with Rev. Fr. Gregg Frankman Celebrant. Special music by the family. Pallbearers will be Geremias Jimenez, Porfiro Perez, Alejandro Rauno, Christian Alvardo, Isaiah Gamber and Carlos Hernadez. Honorary Pallbearers are the Nickeson Family, Gamber Family, Reyes Family and Mahe Family. Interment will be Guatemala at a later date There will be Visitation 2 hours prior to service. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD, will be in charge of arrangements.

Miguel was blessed with 79 years to build a life that he loved and grow a family he was proud of.

Miguel was born in San Miguel, Acatan, Guatemala on June 13, 1943 to Juan Jimenez and Ana Miguel Zay. As a child he loved school more than anything and wanted to learn so much that he would bathe in the river while no one was around so that he could go to school clean. He never lost his zest for learning and as an adult enjoyed learning how to speak English.

In 1973 he met the love of his life, Marta and together they raised a family with seven children that were everything to him. Giving his children the best future possible was all that mattered to him. In 1998 Miguel moved his family to South Dakota where he worked for local dairies until he retired to start his own lawn care business. Everyone in town loved seeing him driving around to different houses on one of his mowers.

Miguel is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marta Lida de Jimenez  and 5 children. Maria Magdalena Jimenez  (Porfirio Perez), Anabela Jimenez (Christian Alverado Mejia), Miguel Angel Jimenez (Ennita Aldana), Josue Jeremías Jimenez ,and, Kely Liliana Jimenez (Alejandro Ruano) twelve grandchildren, Jorge Mario Perez Jimenez, Susan Karels, Carlos Chen Jimenez, Hector Chen Jimenez, Martita Chen Jimenez, Gisselle Perez Jimenez, Karla Chen Jimenez, Miguel Jimenez Jr, Brayan Jimenez, Johanna Jimenez, Jaedyn Bell, Jocelyn Jimenez, Angel Gabriel Jimenez, Tiana Ruano, Grayson Jimenez, Thiago Ruano and twelve great grandchildren.

Miguel was preceded in death by his parents Juan and Ana, his son Juan Gabriel Jimenez who passed away at the age of 31, and his son Juan Carlos Jimenez who passed away at the age of 41.

De niño amaba la escuela más que nada y quería aprender tanto que se bañaba en el río mientras no había nadie alrededor para poder ir a la escuela limpio. Nunca perdió su entusiasmo por aprender y como adulto disfrutó aprendiendo a hablar inglés. En 1973 conoció al amor de su vida, Marta y juntos formaron una familia con siete hijos que lo eran todo para él. Dar a sus hijos el mejor futuro posible era todo lo que le importaba. En 1998, Miguel se mudó con su familia a Dakota del Sur, donde trabajó para las lecherías locales hasta que se jubiló para iniciar su propio negocio de cuidado del césped. A todo el mundo en la ciudad le encantaba verlo conduciendo por diferentes casas en uno de sus cortacéspedes. A Miguel le sobreviven su esposa durante 48 años, Marta Lida de Jiménez y 5 hijos.
