Grave Side Service for Merlyn (Windy) Odean Landmark, 86, of Sisseton, South Dakota will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Sisseton Cemetery in the Veteran's Section with lunch to follow at the Grace Lutheran Church Hall, Sisseton, SD. The Pastor Karie Geyer SAM will be officiating, with military rites by the Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post #50 and The Fort Sisseton VFW Post #3342.

Merlyn (Wendy) Landmark was born November 27, 1931, in Drywood Township, Roberts County, SD to Ole and Mary (Lyngen) Landmark. He grew up in Sisseton where he went to grade school and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1949. Following high school he attended college for two years. While in the National Guard, his unit was sent to Alaska during the Korean Conflict.

Merlyn was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Sisseton, SD; Valdres Samband (Norwegian heritage group); American Legion Post #50 where he served as Post Commander; and the VFW Post #3342 where he served as an officer for many years. He loved hunting, fishing, trapping, and would reload his own shells.

On June 22, 1957, he married Mary D. Worley in Albuquerque, NM, and had two sons Jim and Dean. Merlyn retired in 1993 and moved to Sisseton, SD.

Merlyn worked as a Miller for Moore-Clark Company for 41 years making fish food. He was transferred by the company and lived in New Mexico, Utah, Pennsylvania and State of Washington. Merlyn passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Merlyn is survived by his son James (Sharon) Landmark of North Myrtle Beach, SC; two grandsons, James (Kim) Landmark of North Carolina and Travis Landmark of Utah; one granddaughter Alicia (Randy) Mitchell of Utah; six great-grandchildren, Reece and Drew Landmark of North Carolina; Adelade Landmark, Ames Landmark, Randy Mitchell Jr., and Ashton Mitchell of Utah.

Merlyn was preceded in death by his parents Ole and Mary Landmark; his wife Mary D. Landmark; and one son Merlyn (Dean) Landmark.
