Melanie Hope Williams, 31, Watertown, SD, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2022 in Watertown, SD, at her sister Justine William's home surrounded by her family. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the Big Coulee District Center, Peever, SD with CRE Gerald Heminger Jr. officiating. Pianist will be Billy Kohl. Pallbearers will be Lenny Hayes, Ernie Rendon, Dusty Spider, Tanner Sager, Colton Parkinson and Daniel Martin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Darlena DuMarce, Cynthia Parkinson, Whitney Crookson, Barb Olson, Erin May, Lexie Lincoln, Missy Glines, Autumn Sager, Heidi Johnson, Kayleen Amos, Tonya Gilmore, Isaiah Broken Leg, Bernie Kohl and Rochelle Kohl. There will be all night wake services on Saturday, August 27, 2022 and Sunday, August 28, 2022 starting at 7:00 P.M. at the Big Coulee District Center, Peever, SD. Interment will be in the Ascension Cemetery, Peever, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Melanie was born on November 13, 1990 in Sisseton, SD to Lynette Hayes and Richard Williams. Melanie graduated from high school in Watertown, SD in 2009. After she completed high school she went on to attend Lake Area Technical Institute where she received her certificate and license as a cosmetologist in 2011. She worked for Regis Hairstyling Salon for 2 years. Her family will remember her having many different hairstyles which showed how much she enjoyed being a hairstylist.
Melanie spent her younger days in Big Coulee, SD and attended the Wilmot School district and then moved to Watertown, SD with her family in 1998. Growing up Melanie enjoyed playing softball from the 3 rd grade to the 12 th grade. She also enjoyed watching baseball and her favorite female players were Jenny Finch and Crystal Bustos. Melanie also enjoyed fishing as child and an adult and will be remembered for digging up worms as a child. Her mother's fondest memory will be Melanie carrying around a can of worms as a child. She enjoyed playing with Barbies with her sister Justine while growing up. Melanie enjoyed sitting by the lake with her siblings and playing dice, cooking different foods for her family, and liked car rides with her sister's dog Saucie. While living in Watertown and working for Regis Hairstyling Salon, she left and worked for The Grainery for 6 years as a waitress and then Casey's for another 6 years as a cook and cashier.
Melanie is survived by her father Richard Williams of Watertown, SD; her mother Lynette Hayes of Watertown, SD; significant other Nick Christy of Watertown, SD; two sisters Justine Williams and Melissa Williams of Watertown, SD; Maternal grandmothers Sharon Renville of Sisseton, SD and Alvina Hayes of Peever, SD.
Melanie was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Leonard Hayes Jr.; paternal grandmother LaVelva William and Grandfather Phillip Williams.
