Mavis Lucille Christiansen, 82, of Sisseton, SD passed away on December 9, 2009 at the Tekakwitha Living Center, Sisseton, SD. Inurnment of her cremains will be at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD.
Mavis was born on October 15, 1927 in New Effington, SD to Ludvik and Mollie (Osteros) Larson. Mavis attended school and graduated from New Effington High School. Mavis worked in Ogden, Utah during the war. Mavis was united in marriage to Christian Christiansen on January 22, 1948 in New Effington, SD. They moved to Sisseton in 1950, where she worked at the Roberts County
Courthouse for fifteen years and Northwest Bell Telephone Company for six years.
Mavis was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, member of Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Auxiliary, and was a past Matron of Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, knitting and was an avid golfer for many years.
Mavis is survived by her son, Grant of Cheyenne, WY.
Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four sisters.
