Funeral Service for Mary Louise Blackthunder, Wakinya Sapa Toka Heya Mani Wi "Black Thunder Walks in Front Woman" will be on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 2:00P.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD. There will be a Wake service on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD. There will be an All-Night Wake service on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD starting at 7:00 P.M. Officiating the services will by Clyde Kampeska, John Kampeska, Everette Blackthunder Sr., and Wambdi Cook. Pall Bearers will be Eddie Blackthunder, Kip Cartier, Marcos Blackthunder, Craig Blackthunder, Adam Renville, Ellias Quinn, Tony Cartier, and Justin Cloud. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Julie Watts, Cheryl Renville, Gina Blackthunder, Catherine Thompson, Marie Renville, Ellie LaBelle, Lynn Halbert, Zack White, Christopher Keeble, and John Eagle. Drum Group will be the Cook Boys. Singers will be Jr. Blackthunder and Justin Geshik. Interment will be immediately following the service at the Sisseton Wahpeton Traditional Burial Grounds, Sisseton, SD.

Mary Louise Blackthunder-Keeble was born on January 20, 1945, in Sisseton, SD to Thelma Danforth and Elijah Blackthunder. Mary attended and graduated from Flandreau Indian School. For college, Mary was enrolled in USD in Vermillion, UTEC in Bismark, ND, as well as the Sisseton Wahpeton Community College in Sisseton, SD. She graduated college with an AA degree, specializing in Drug and Alcohol Counseling. Mary worked at Dakota Pride as a Drug and Alcohol counselor for 25 years before retiring. She was a very humble person and helped a lot of her clients get through their addiction. Mary met and married Tyrone Keeble and from that union, they were blessed with six children: Rose Keeble, Philip Keeble, Kristie Keeble, Tyra Keeble, Shawn Stokes, and Holly Robertson. In her leisure time, she enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley and other music, singing, dancing (twist Queen!). Mary was very fond of Kung-Fu flicks and K-dramas. She adored her great-grandchildren and her grandkids with all her heart. Mary will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. Mary passed away on April 9, 2024 at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Mary is survived by her children Rose Keeble, Philip Keeble, Kristie Keeble, Shawn Stokes, Holly Robertson; brothers Everette Blackthunder and Edmond Blackthunder; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and Many Nieces and Nephews.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Elijah Blackthunder and Thelma Danforth-Blackthunder; siblings Edward Blackthunder and Jimmy Blackthunder; sisters Katherine Blackthunder-Dorsch, Effie Blackthunder, and Edna Blackthunder-Jones; and daughter Tyra Keeble.
