Funeral Mass for Mary Jane Wanna-Drum, " Hupahu Cistinna Win", Little wing Woman, 66, of Alexandria, MN will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 10:30 AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Fr. Tony Dummer, OMI celebrant. Drum Group will be the Thompson Boys. Pallbearers will be Jacob Frederick, Stacey Wanna, Xavier Richardson, Antonio Richardson, Anthony Wanna and Keith Wanna. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy & Bonita Prescott, Michelle Ciceron, Billy LaCroix, Lynn Mensen, Bonnie Thompson, Marsha Renville, Marie Renville, Wanda Thompson, Mona Williams, Milford Mudgett, and Julian Rocheford. Interment will be in the St. Matthew's Catholic Cemetery, Veblen, SD. There will be Wake Services at St. Catherine's Hall on Saturday, April 13, 2013 with an all night wake on Sunday, April 14, 2013 both starting at 7:00 PM. Mary Jane Wanna was born on June 22, 1946 in Sisseton, SD to Leo Gilbert and Mary (Zapata) Wanna. She attended school at Tekakwitha School in Sisseton, SD and in St. Paul, MN. She attended college at St. Paul Technical College and graduated with a BA in Social Work. Following her education she worked at Shakopee Women's Prison, then at Sauk Center Home School until her retirement. Mary liked to care for others. She enjoyed Bingo and Casinos. While living in Alexandria, MN she was part of the Diversity Group, worked with the United Way and helped at the Catholic Church. Mary passed away on April 11, 2013 at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Mary is survived by four children, Desiree Frederick of Watertown, SD, Lisa Randall of Alexandria, MN, Milford Mudgett and Wayne Francis Mudgett of Alexandria, MN; four sisters, Rosanne Wanna of Alexandria, MN, Agnes Golden of St. Paul, MN, Patricia Wanna of Alexandria, MN and Anita Zapata of St. Paul. MN; two brothers, Joseph Wanna of Alexandria, MN and Anthony Wanna of St. Paul, MN; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Xavier and Howard Wanna; and two sisters, Ramona Wanna and Elizabeth Wanna.
