Rosary will be held at 7:00pm, Monday, July 27, 2020 at Black Hills Funeral Home with Father Timothy Castor presiding. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 11:00 am at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be held Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Valley View Cemetery in Browns Valley, MN. at 10:00 A.M. Please meet at 9:00 am at Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD.

She was born in Peever, SD to Merville and Elinor (Corky) Nigg. She grew up in rural Roberts County where she met the love of her life, Floyd Fonder.  They were united in marriage on December 26, 1950 in Browns Valley, Minnesota.  To this union six children were born, Loretta Rear of Maui, Hawaii, Kim (Tammy) Fonder of Wakpala, SD, Kathy Fonder of Black Hawk, SD, Linda (Delray) Richards of Pierre, SD, Karin (Dave) Tyler of Lead, SD, Roxy (Bill) Boyer of Sturgis, SD and one exceptional granddaughter who she often called her daughter, Lorie Rear.

Marvel is survived by her children; brothers, Pat Nigg, Sisseton, SD and Eddy Ebright, Pioneer, CA; sister-in-law, Phyllis Nigg, Sisseton, SD; 20 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and one very special friend and caregiver, Cindy Spencer of Monument Health LTC Center.

She worked many jobs from farming to casino's but her life was her many grandkids, nothing lit up her face more than when a new baby was born, she was so proud of each and every one of her kids and of all of theirs. Her other passions were the church, traveling, crocheting, making every child a baby quilt, making jelly and jams, and caring for anyone and everyone who needed it.

Marvel was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life, Floyd; sister, Joan Larson; brother, Michael Nigg; brother-in-law, Jerome Larson; sister-in-law, Lois Nigg; son-in-law, Dale Rear; three grand-children, Mandy Fonder, Kira Fonder, and Keith Fonder; and two great-great grandchildren, Eric Fonder and Aubrey Seaboy.
