Memorial service for Martha Mae King "Suntokca ska wi" White Wolf Woman, 65, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Buffalo Lake District Center, Eden, SD with John Cloud III officiating. There will be Traditional Ceremonies from Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 6:00 PM through Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Peggy King's Home, Lake Traverse. Martha's cremains will be scattered at the Buffalo Lake Presbyterian Cemetery, Eden, SD. Pallbearer will be Cedric King. Honorary Pallbearers will be Janice Gill, Geno DeMarrias, Evelyn Pilcher, Lolita Seaboy, Carol Crawford, Sharon Marks, Darlene King, Carol Iron Moccasin and Barbara King. Martha was born on May 2, 1944 in Sisseton, SD to William King and Ida Marks. Martha was raised by her aunt Lillian King. She attended school at Wahpeton and Flandreau Indian School. Martha made her home in Sisseton, SD all her life. She worked at Indian Health Service Hospital as a housekeeper for a time. She entered the Tekakwitha Living Center on December 2, 2009. Martha liked to sew, do puzzles, and play slots and keno. Martha loved being involved with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Martha passed away on December 8, 2009 at the Tekakwitha Living Center, Sisseton, SD, after a thirty year on and off battle with cancer.
Martha is survived by three children, David Peterson of Ames, IA; two daughters, Debbie Crosson of Anngeley, Maine and Lillian Johnson of Texas; three brothers, Gerald King of Blaine, MN, Cedric King of Rosholt, SD and Theodore King of Sisseton, SD; six sisters, Patty Marks of NE, Peggy King of Rosholt SD, Wilma King of Sisseton, SD, Brenda King of Rosholt, SD, Sharon King of New Effington, SD and Carol Crawford of Buffalo Lake; 12 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Janet King; one son, Micheal King; one sister, Ernesline King; three brothers, Sylvan White, Robert White, and Willard King.
