Funeral Service for Marlyn "Mort" Edward Lehrke, 79 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. James Wilshusen Officiating. Organist will be Clarice Arbach with special music by the Lehrke Family. Pallbearers will be Robert Lehrke, Sean Lehrke, Shane Lehrke, Denny Lehrke, Cory Gray and Aarik Gray. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Mort's nieces. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Rosholt, SD. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. at Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Marlyn "Mort" Lehrke was born March 2, 1938 in Sisseton, SD to Edward and Alice (Chapin) Lehrke. He was baptized in 1938 and was confirmed on September 13, 1953 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Harmon Township. He attended school at South Bryant country school. He then farmed with his parents for many years. He loved farming and was happiest sitting on a tractor or driving his pickup around checking crops. In 1988 Mort and his father retired from farming and moved to Sisseton where Mort lived and worked at Sisseton Housing and Redevelopment until retiring in 2003.

Mort enjoyed baseball, whether it be watching the Twins on TV or going to "town team" games. He could tell you who pitched for any given town team back in the 50's and wasn't afraid to tell you if they were any good. He spent many summer evenings playing catch with his brothers in the yard. His greatest love was playing cards. He could play nearly any game and could be found at Lee's Resort playing smear in early years or at Billy's Cafe playing pinochle in later years. He spent many hours playing cards with his nieces and nephews and family members. Mort passed away at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton on January 26, 2018.

Mort is survived by four brothers: William (Rae, deceased) Lehrke of Minneapolis, MN; Wayne (Kaye, deceased) Lehrke of San Jacinto, Ca; Kenneth (Ilse, deceased) Lehrke of Maple Grove, MN; Dean (Dianne) Lehrke of Sisseton, SD; and one sister-in-law, Vonnie Lehrke of Aberdeen, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Richard, and three sisters-in-law.
