Memorial Service for Marlene Ida (Jacobson) Karst, 61, of  Veblen, South Dakota will be held on Saturday,  September 16, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD with Fr. Gregg Frankman Celebrant. There will be visitation one hour prior to services. Urn Bearer will be Kathy Young.  Honorary Urn Bearers will be All of Marlene's Friends and Family. Burial will be in the Veblen Cemetery, Veblen, South Dakota. There will be a meal served at Marlene's home in Veblen following burial and everyone is welcome.

Marlene was born February 8, 1962, in Fargo, North Dakota to the parents of Russell and LaVonne (Heth) Jacobson.  She grew up in Veblen, where she graduated from high school in 1980. Following graduation, she attended North Dakota State College of Science earning her bachelor's degree in office management. Shortly after, Marlene met Doug Karst and they were married on November 23, 1988, in Sisseton. They had 2 children, Joshua and Rachael, and shared 24 years of marriage together. Marlene worked various jobs and went back to NDSCS in 1997 to earn her plumbing degree. But her favorite job was being a mother and grandma. Marlene had a deep love for her family and many friends. She was always there to help and a listening ear when you needed a person to talk to, and always knew how to make you laugh. Marlene had a passion for reading, and always enjoyed sunbathing and days at the beach, but her greatest love was spending time with family. She was especially proud of her grandkids Gage Karst and Ryne Bailey. She was up for an adventure at any time.  Marlene Ida (Jacobson) Karst of Veblen, South Dakota died peacefully in her home on September 7, 2023, at the age of 61.

Marlene is survived by her two children Rachael Karst (Jeff Bailey) of Britton, SD and Joshua (Chelsey) Karst of Waubay, SD; one sister Kathleen (Allan) Young of Veblen, SD; two grandchildren Gage Karst of Waubay, SD and Ryne Bailey of Britton, SD; significant other Doug Karst of Sisseton, SD; niece Stacy (Derek) Bretsch of Frederick, SD; nephew Spencer (Jill) Cody of Mina Lake, SD; great-nieces Cassidy Biel, Teegan and Temperance Cody; and great nephew Xander Jones.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents Russell and LaVonne (Heth) Jacobson.
