Obituary

Funeral Service for Marlene June Eneboe, 77, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. Albert Sepulveda officiating. Organist will be Steven Eneboe, Pianist will be Kristen Sepulveda and soloist will be Tim Farmen. Pallbearers will be Brent Eneboe, Jacob Farmen, John Farmen, Joshua Sepulveda, Caleb Sepulveda and Christopher Salfrank. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the Cahill Funeral Chapel from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service led by Rev. Paul Osborne. There will be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Wednesday. Marlene June Backman was born June 3, 1935 in Sisseton, SD to Julius and Mary (Jorgensen) Backman. She was raised on the family farm in Wilmot. Along with five sisters and three brothers. She graduated from Spring Grove #1. She worked on the farm until 1959 when upon her dad's passing she and her mother moved to Sisseton. Marlene worked at Anthony's Clothing Store. In 1960 she took the Dale Carnegie Course. Marlene was united in marriage to Leon Eneboe on September 3, 1961 in Sisseton, SD. To this union four children were born. Marlene stayed home with her children until they were all in school. She then began working at Miracle Styles Dress Shop until 1989 when she and Leon purchased Warren's Red Owl Store. Together Leon and Marlene ran their family grocery store where they catered to their shoppers in a very personal way. She retired in 2007. Marlene prayed to receive Christ as Savior at an early age in Sunday school. Marlene was a member of Christian Missionary Alliance Church, where she was active in church, teaching Sunday school, hosting missionaries, Bible Studies and the Women's Missionary Fellowship. She also sang many duets with Leon, and trios with Leon and daughter, Kristen. Marlene enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends and hosting the holiday meals, as well as elaborate birthday parties for the grandkids. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother, and always put everyone's needs ahead of her own. Marlene passed away on September 15, 2012 at the Tekakwitha Nursing Center, Sisseton, SD after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS).
Marlene is survived by her husband, Leon Eneboe of Sisseton, SD; four children, Philip (Melanie) Eneboe of Sisseton, SD, Susan (Tim) Farmen of Sisseton, SD, Kristen (Rev. Albert) Sepulveda of Elk River, MN, and Steven Eneboe of Sisseton, SD; thirteen grandchildren, Brent Eneboe, Jacob (Kate Chamberlain), John, Kiersten and Kaitlyn Farmen, Joshua, Caleb, Grace, and Rachel Sepulveda, Christopher and Maren (Sepulveda) Salfrank, Ruth, Mary Grace and Shalom Eneboe; two brothers, Leon and wife, Gladys Backman of Sisseton, SD, Donald and wife, June Backman of Wilmot, SD; three sisters, Pearl Amman of Wilmot, SD, Viola Taylor of Sisseton, SD, and Eunice and husband, Arlen Berwald of Toronto, SD; sister-in-law, Miriam Backman of Sisseton, SD; and many other nieces and nephews.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Jens Backman and two sisters, Norma Madsen and Marlys Ballhagen.
