Funeral Service for Marlene Sharon Carl, 83 of Watertown, SD, formally of Sisseton, SD will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Joshua Knudsen officiating and organist will be Marti Knudsen. Pall Bearers will be Kenny Olson, Myles Larson, Alex Ries, Hunter Ries, Parker Ries, Skylar Burgher, and Zachery Burgher. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lee Nerison, Darrel Kittelson, Troy Burgher, Rich Foster, Lori Kayl (goddaughter), Sally Olson, Dylan Altifillisch, Dillion Kittelson, Tasha Altfillisch, Deven Burgher, Kelsey Nerison, and all the rest of Marlene's nieces and nephews. There will be visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will be at the New Effington Community Cemetery, New Effington, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Marlene passed away with family by her side at the United Living Community in Brookings, SD. Marlene was born on August 25, 1942, in Browns Valley, MN to Leonard Miles and Margaret May (Yeager) Carl. She graduated from New Effington, SD in 1960. Marlene had various jobs throughout her life. But her most memorable was driving all the nieces, nephews and the great nieces and nephews around to where they needed to go. She enjoyed making flower arrangements for different events.

Marlene is survived by her sister Karen Nerison; nieces Sally (Micheal) Olson, Janis (Darrel) Kittlelson, Valerie (Troy) Burgher, and Amanda (Rich) Foster; nephews Kenny Olson and Lee (Dakota) Nerison; Great Nephews Myles Larson, Dylan (Bridget) Altfillisch, Dillion (Kelbi) Kittelson, Alex, Hunter, and Parker Ries, Skylar, Deven, and Zachery Burgher, and Wyatt Nerison; great nieces Kelsey Nerison, Tasha Altfillisch and Sage Nerison; great great nephews Bentley Altfillisch and Jaxson Johnson; great great nieces Bayleigh Nerison, Charolette Schweer, Raelyne, Teagan and Emma Kittleson, Kylee Moffenbier, and Avery Altfillisch; and many other nephews and nieces.

Marlene is preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Margaret Carl, brothers Douglas, Wayne, Don, and Claude Carl; sisters Darlene Olson and Sandy Carl; brother-in-laws Terry Nerison and Gordon Olson; sister-in-laws Betty Gail Carl, Beverly Carl, Betty Lou Carl, and Esther Carl.
