Funeral service for Marjorie "Margie" Eide, 90, of Sisseton, South Dakota will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with Vicar Pat Schubert officiating. Organist will be Michelle Greseth and special music by Lori Moen and Meranda Schindelbower. Pallbears will be Michaela & Chip VanderPol, Adam Jensen, Scott Jensen, Kaitlin & Adam Dunphy, Alyssa Smith, Nicholas Smith and Sydney Smith. Honorary Pallbears will be All of Marjorie's Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, Tekakwitha Living Center Residents and Staff, Roberts County SD Employees Past and Present, Carol Jean Martenson, Jan Carlson, Kay Nikolas, Grace Gleason, Dr.Judy Beumer and Marjorie's SHS Classmates of 1950. There will be visitation at the Cahill Funeral Chapel on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Spring interment at One Road Bethel Cemetery in Sisseton, South Dakota. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Marjorie Alice Rice was born on January 26, 1932 in Hamlin County South Dakota to Robert C. and Mildred F. (Lee) Rice. Marjorie moved with her parents and younger sister Roberta to Sisseton around 1942. Her youngest sister was born in 1945 and succumbed to Polio in 1946. Her father passed unexpectedly in 1949 at age of 41 from a heart attack. Marjorie helped raise Roberta while her mother pursued employment to support the family. Marjorie attended Sisseton High School, graduating with the Class of 1950. She formed life-long friendships with many. On August 6, 1950 she was united in marriage to Andrew Eide at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sisseton, South Dakota. Andrew joined the Army and spent time in Colorado Springs, CO. They lived in an apartment on Second Ave East in Sisseton, welcoming 3 children during this time. In 1959 they moved to 604 West Maple Street and Mary completed the happy family. She remained there after Andrew's death in 2014, until she entered the Tekakwitha Living Center in June 2016.Marjorie dedicated the early years of her marriage to raising their family and was involved in school, church and civic committees, Boy Scout Den Leader, 4-H Leader, and others as well. Marjorie joined her tenure with Roberts County in 1968, by first working for Auditor Magnus Tasa. This developed into her helping in most of courthouse offices on a part-time basis, until she started in the Treasurer's office under the mentorship of Irene Dahl. Marjorie was elected the Roberts County Treasurer in 1977 and served the county through December 1996. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church where she participated in Altar Guild, Women's Circles, Serving Groups, Church Library, Children's activities, Bible Studies, Quilting, and making Prayer Shawls. Marjorie loved her community and participated in many organizations and events throughout the years. Some of these include Grey Ladies, CDP Hospital Board and Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star, City and County Election Clerks, Sisseton Alumni Association, Roberts County Democratic Party, Homemakers Extension, Centennial and Horse & Buggy Day Committees, and local American Legion Auxiliary. In1996 she received recognition from the Democratic Party which was presented by Senator Tom Daschle. She had the honor of recognition as the Sisseton Alumnus of the Year in July of 2000, with her grandson Mike, and daughter Joan taking part in the ceremony. Marjorie was known for her crafting, sewing and baking talent, which she generously shared with others. Employees of many establishments were known to grab the last cream puff or chocolate chip cookie she had provided. In early years she had made the "girl's" clothes as well as her own, and for others, she could knit and crochet while sleeping in the chair, and enjoyed crafts of all types. Marjorie was blessed with many good friends and was a friend to all. Her grandchildren's friends were regulars at Gramma Margie's for meals and treats, and the TLC employees and their children, considered her a Gramma, too. Mom loved unconditionally. She made people feel like they were a member of our family. There was always an extra seat and food at the table. We have friends today that still call her "Mom Eide". Mom lived through and survived covid in 2020. She communicated with us through the window and her IPad. She loved to see pictures of what was going on in the community and her loved ones. She will be lovingly missed by all. Margie passed away on February 7, 2022 at Tekakwitha Living Center surrounded by family and friends.

Marjorie is survived by: one son Steven Eide of Sisseton, SD; three daughters, Andrea Eide of Fargo, ND; Joan and husband Tom Brewster of Lake City, SD; and Mary and husband Dennis Jensen of Sisseton, SD; Seven grandchildren, Christie Torgerson of Fargo, ND; Michaela and husband Chip VanderPol of North Liberty, IA; Adam Jensen and his significant other Paige Gregory of Minneapolis, MN; Scott and wife Kamra Jensen of Aurora, SD; Eric Brewster of Milbank, SD; Rachel and husband Chad Hanisch of Garretson, SD; Joe and wife Missy Brewster of Sioux Falls, SD, and fourteen great grandchildren, Kaitlin and husband Adam Dunphy of St. Bonifacius, MN; Jackson Wickre of St. Michael, MN; Alyssa, Nicholas, and Sydney Smith of Horace, ND; Paitynn, Sophie and Vienna VanderPol of North Liberty, IA; Obi Jensen of Aurora, SD; Adair, Harper and Michael Hanisch of Garretson, SD; Alex Brewster of New York, NY and Macy Brewster of Sioux Falls, SD; cousin Don Rice of Watertown, SD and many beloved nephews, nieces, and friends.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Andrew, parents Robert and Mildred Rice, Sisters Lola Lee and Roberta Rice, and grandson Michael Torgerson.
