Funeral Mass for Marie J. Sattler, 89, of Sisseton, SD, will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Saturday one hour prior to Mass and from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Friday, September 13, 2024, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with a Prayer Service to follow. The funeral Mass Celebrant will be Fr. Ken Lulf. Sequencer will be Kay Nikolas and song leader Georgia Streier. Pallbearers will be Marie's nephews, Danny Cordie, Ryan Cordie, Barry Cordie, Chad Cordie, Elroy Streier, John Streier, and Steve Streier. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marie's grandchildren, nieces, and Prairie Lakes Hospice. Burial will be at the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Marie Joanne Cordie was born on September 18, 1934, in Sisseton, SD to Joe and Lillian (George) Cordie. She graduated from Sisseton High School in 1952. Following high school, she briefly taught school and worked at the Federal Land Bank for several years until she was married. Marie was united in marriage to LaVerne Sattler on October 9, 1965. They made their home near Eden, where they farmed for many years and Marie was a homemaker. In later years, she worked at Clear Lake Resort and helped clean cabins at RoyKota Resort. After retirement, they relocated to Sisseton in 2003. Marie was an avid baker and enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, and puzzles. Her family especially enjoyed her tasty baked goods and dill pickles. She enjoyed spending time with family. Marie was a member and actively involved in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eden and St. Peter's Catholic Church in Sisseton. Marie passed away on September 11, 2024, at home surrounded by family.

Marie is survived by her husband LaVerne of nearly 59 years; two daughters, Lisa Sattler of Aberdeen, SD, and Michelle (Michael) Burger of Britton, SD; three grandchildren, Lexy (Adam) Eggert, Elizabeth, and Mitchell Burger; and one great grandchild, Kenzie. She also leaves behind two brothers, Jerry (Donna) Cordie and Kenny (Reva) Cordie of Sisseton, SD; one sister-in-law, Ardie Cordie of Valley City, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Lillian (George) Cordie; a brother Pat Cordie and a sister Eunice Cordie; her in-laws Frank and Margaret Sattler; niece Deb Whitlow; and sister-and-brother-in-law Arlene and Louis Streier.

Family is accepting flowers. However, memorials may be sent to Praire Lakes Hospice and/or St. Peter's Church.
