Funeral Mass for Margaret Schneider, 92 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD. The Rev. Fr. Norman Volk, O.M.I. and Rev. Fr. Shawn Haggerty Celebrants. Organist will be Colette Hull and song leaders will be Sandi Jaspers and Cindy Marohl. Pallbearers will be Bill Haubris, Micheal Haubris, Duane Schneider, Joey Schneider, Robert Hull and Jerry Schneider. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Margaret's Family and Friends. Interment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Cahill Funeral Chapel, then from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at St. Peter's Catholic Church. There will be visitation one hour prior to the mass at the Church on Wednesday. Margaret was born on May 5, 1917 to Michael and Elizabeth (Hoss) Schneider in Long Hollow Township, Roberts County, South Dakota. Margaret attended school at Long Hollow #3. Following her education she worked at Tekakwitha Hospital and Tekakwitha Orphanage then she went to work in the Eden area for thirty five years as a housekeeper. Margaret returned to Sisseton 1981 and worked as a caregiver for several different families. She joined the Greenthumb Program as a cleaner and housekeep for a number of years. Margaret retired in April 2008 from the Community Action Program at the age of 90. Margaret was a longtime member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, where she served on the Altar Society, her circle and was a member of the Koiniania. When Margaret was in her 70's she traveled to Jerusalem, and Portugal where she visited Our Lady of Fatima. She loved to read and take care of her garden and plants. Margaret passed away on July 17, 2009 at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital, Sisseton, SD.
Margaret is survived by two sister-in-laws, Deloris Schneider and Beverly Schneider of Sisseton, SD; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings at infancy, three brothers, Paul, Joseph, and Andrew Schneider, two sisters, Caroline Schneider and Frances Haubris.
