Funeral Service for Margaret J. Langager, 86 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church, Claire City, SD with Rev. Tryphine Schruba officiating. Organist will be Crystal Kemnitz with a duet by Bob Schultz and Allen Schram. Pallbearers will be Douglas Langager Sr., Douglas Langager Jr., Joey Schneider, Jeff Smith, Chad Ward and Danny Kaufman. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Margaret's Nursing Home Family. Interment will be in the Claire City Cemetery, Claire City, South Dakota. There will be visitation on Monday, November 22, 2010 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Cahill Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Tuesday. Margaret Jeanette Langager was born on March 23, 1924 west of Sisseton, SD to Hans and Jenna (Vig) Langager. At the age of four she moved with her mother, Jenna to Claire City, SD, where she was raised, attended school and church. She graduated from Claire City High School in 1942. She moved to Minneapolis where she lived and worked. She was also a nanny for her sister Ella's two daughters. She later returned to Claire City to care for her mother who had suffered a stroke. She later became a live in caregiver for several different families in the area, including her sister, Ella. Margaret was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church and enjoyed quilting and other church activities. Margaret moved in to Sisseton in the early 1970s.When her health allowed she walked down town, shopped and visited with people. She enjoyed family occasions and could recall the names of every great great niece and nephew. After a fall and fracturing her hip in June of 2009 she entered the Tekakwitha Living Center. Here she thrived, enjoying the staff and residents. She especially enjoyed watching the Daycare children and their activities. She took part in the many activities offered and was so proud of any of her "winnings."She enjoyed crossword puzzles, and quilting. Margaret passed away on November 20, 2010 at the Tekakwitha Living Center, Sisseton, SD with her family at her bedside. Margaret will surely be missed. She was delighted to have visitors and to chat about the past and the present.
Margaret is survived by several nieces and nephews, including in this area, Beverly Schneider of Sisseton, SD, Barbara Kallstrom of Sisseton, SD, Douglas and Gloria Langager of Sisseton, SD, Darlene and husband, Irvin Smith of Browns Valley, MN and Jane and husband, Merlin Moe of Fergus Falls, MN.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Marvin, John, Ingvald, Lawrence and Herman; three sisters, Ella Iverson, Marie Engel and Stella Schmitgen.
