Funeral Service for Marcella Ruth Rinas 93, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Suzie Benidt officiating. Pallbearers will be Scott Rolstad, Brian Leverson, Justin Rolstad, Aaron Rolstad, Theron Rolstad, Troy Wolfe and Garret Leverson. Honorary Pallbearers in spirit will be son, Lonnie Knudtson, and grandson Todd Wolfe, along with all relatives and friends. Interment will be at the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be a visitation on Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with family present and a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service at the Cahill Funeral Chapel Sisseton, SD and visitation one hour prior to funeral service at the Church on Monday. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Marcella Ruth Vig was born to Ole and Marie (Orsland) Vig on May 15, 1921 in Roberts County, SD. She was raised on the Fairview Farm, south of Sisseton and attended Goodwill #1 East country school through eight grades. She worked at the Kittleson Hotel in Sisseton following her schooling. She married Orville Knudtson, and to this union three children were born, Judy, Sandra, and Lonnie. They made their home in Goodwill Township and then they moved to California for five years. They moved back to Sisseton in 1958. Orville passed away on October 14, 1989. Marcella worked at the A&W, Lundstroms, Stavigs, and Tekakwitha Nursing Home in Sisseton, SD. On June 13, 1981 Marcella married Elden Rinas and worked on the family farm then they retired and moved in to Sisseton in 1984. Elden passed away June 1, 1989. She continued to live in Sisseton. In 2002 she moved into Greenleaf Assisted Living in Sisseton, SD. In 2006 Marcella moved to Countryside Inn in Rosholt, SD. Marcella was a member of the Fort Sisseton VFW Auxiliary #3342, Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Auxiliary #50, Hills and Valley Riding Club and Grace Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. Marcella was an accomplished singer, singing tenor and harmony for local groups and in nursing homes. She liked quilting, making crafts, working in the garden, helping people, embroidery, painting and drawing pictures and she enjoyed her grandchildren. The Lord decided to bring her home on April 24, 2015 at Countryside Inn, Rosholt, SD on her daughter Judy's 73rd birthday.
Marcella is survived by her daughters Judy and Milton Rolstad of Sisseton, SD and Sandra and Richard Wolfe of Horace, ND; five step children Dale and Marlene Rinas of Sisseton, SD, Carolyn and John Peterson of Omaha, NE, Michelle Rinas of Ponca, NE, Diane and Matthew Ryan of Omaha, NE, and Kari and Willerd Ward of Mooreton, ND; five grandchildren and twelve step grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Orville Knudtson and Elden Rinas; one son Lonnie Knudtson; two brothers Leroy and Orville Vig; five sisters Luella Anderson, Connie Monson, Margaret Bubak, Delores Rolstad and Betheleen Canova; one grandson Todd Wolfe.
