Obituary

Funeral Mass for Marcella Adams, widow of John "Jack' Adams, 85 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Monday, June 7, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. Fr. Andy Knop , O.M.I. Celebrant. Organist will be Colette Hull and Song Leader will be Sandi Jaspers. Pallbearers will be Tom Week, Kevin Larson, Daniel Nigg, Pat Deutsch, Kevin Deutsch, Gene Block and Terry Blinsmon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Don and Sonja Miller and Betty Jean Hagen. Interment will be in The Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, South Dakota. There will be visitation on Sunday, June 6, 2010 from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel. There will be visitation one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday. Marcella Catherine Ott was born on December 2, 1924 in Grant Township, Roberts County, South Dakota to Andrew and Frances (Lanners) Ott. Marcella attended country school and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1942. Marcella attended South Dakota State University and graduated with a degree from the Printing Department in Linotype. Marcella was united in marriage to John "Jack" Adams on May 22, 1951 in Columbus, GA. Following Jack's completion in the Navy Academy, Marcella and Jack return to Sisseton, SD and they went to work with his mother, Grace Adams and helped published the Sisseton Courier until 1993 when Harley and Sylvia Deutsch purchased the Sisseton Courier. Jack and Marcella also owned and operated Interstate Publishing Company in Watertown. Marcella was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and past president and treasurer of St. Peter's Alter Society. She had a love for the Catholic Church. She was a member of Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Auxiliary #50 and had served as president and . She loved cats, enjoyed TV, traveling, reading, their home on Pickerel Lake, and her favorite pass time was playing solitaire. Marcella passed away on June 3, 2010 at the Coteau Des Prairies Hospital, Sisseton, SD.
Marcella is survived by two sisters-in-law, Darlyne Ott of Sisseton, SD and Cynthia Adams of New York, New York; one nephew, Terry Rolstad of Sisseton, SD and three nieces, Linda Trower of Lakeview, OR, Colette (Tom) Week of Yankton, SD, Patricia (Kevin) Larson of Maple Grove, MN; and friends Harley and Sylvia Deutsch of Sisseton, SD.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Frances Ott; her husband, John "Jack" Adams; one sister, Mary Kay Rolstad; two brothers, Stanley and Arthur Ott; In-laws Albert and Grace Adams; sister-in-law, Imogene Adams and brother-in-law Merle Rolstad
