Funeral Service for Mandel Joseph Yankton Sr., Tahca Wihnis'a "Deer Hunter" ,64, of Sisseton. SD will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Eagle's Wing Baptist Church, Agency Village, SD with Rev. Jerome Renville officiating.  Pianist will be Karen Renville.  Pallbearers will be Victor Simon, Jeremy Elton, Brady Cloud, James German, Daniel Greeley, Kevin Abrahamson, Tim Max Sr., Lee Niehart and Matt Johnson.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Morris Spider, Damien Flute, Solomon Shepherd, Mike Jensen, Roman Derby, Jordan Ortley, Kelly Greiner, Mike Kohl, Mike Myrum, Merle Sing, and Mitchell Lawrence. Interment will be in the Eagle Wings Baptist Cemetery, Peever, SD.  All night Wake Services will be held at the Eagle's Wing Baptist Church, Agency Village, SD at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 17, 2023 and Saturday, March 18, 2023.  The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Mandel Joseph Yankton Sr.  was born on November 19, 1958 in Sisseton, SD to Ramona JoAnn Yankton.  He grew up in the Browns Valley, MN area.  He attended Pierre Indian School from the age of 7 years.  He went to middle school in Browns Valley, MN. He received his GED.  He resided in Sisseton and around the cities, St Paul area.  His earlier years he resided in Rapid City, SD and Salt Lake City, Utah, where he was a landscaper.  Then returned to Sisseton, SD where he was well known as a mechanic. In 1986 Mandel returned to St. Paul, MN where he and Patty started their family of 8 children. Later on they came back to Sisseton where he was employed for the Tribal Elderly Program.  Later  he worked as a mechanic for Tim Max.  He also worked at Dakota Magic.  Mandel gave himself to the Lord and was saved at Eagle Wings Baptist Church. Mandel was a friend to all.  He and Patty welcomed numerous children a safe place in their home and frequently took children fishing, sliding, camping and to the Purple Cow.  He was the kind of guy to always offer a helping hand and would give anyone the shirt off his back. He was a great husband, dad, grandpa, uncle, brother, son and friend. He always put other people first.  He always had a story or joke in every situation.  Mandel loved to make the cops earn their money. He prided himself on his ability to out run the police. Mandel loved fast cars, a cold beer and a calm lake to fish on.  He will be greatly missed by all who loved and cherished him.  The family would like to thank Saphrona Crawford and family for everything they've did for our loved one. Mandel passed away on March 14, 2023 at Peever, SD.

Mandel is survived by his children, Justin White of Sioux Falls. SD, Jade White of Sioux Falls, SD, Amanda (Nick) Quinn of Sisseton, SD, Cody (Charity) Toutges of Sisseton, SD,  Ted (Crystal) Feather of Peever, SD, Vincent (Dawn) Toutges of Canby, MN, Brandon Yankton of Faulkton, SD, Benjamin Yankton of Springfield, SD, Meagan (Jeremy) Yankton of Kassen, MN, Maggie Yankton of Sisseton, SD, and adopted son, Darin (Kasey) Weidenbach of Watertown, SD and numerous Peever kids; 41 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters Medina Kahoombash, Kit Little of  North Dakota, Charlene Yankton of Connecticut, and Alberta Yankton of Texas, Sally Rendon and LaNelle Enney of Granite Falls, MN; and his life partner Patty Feather of Sisseton, SD and aunt Saphorna Crawford of Peever, SD; brothers Ernie  Renden of Granite Falls, MN, Benjamin Schmaus of  Granite Falls. MN; one Uncle Richard and Bonnie Yankton of Devils Lake, MN.

Mandel was preceded in death by his parents, one son Mandel Yankton Jr., sisters, Cerrina Schmaus and LaSonia Schmaus; maternal and paternal grandparents, Aunt Doris Yankton; one granddaughter, Nicolle Feather, and one great granddaughter Shaylee Feather.
