Funeral Mass for Lucille George, 91 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Gregg Frankman Celebrant. Pallbearers will be Scott George, Steve Steiner, Cory Steiner, Anjelo Shepherd, David Brown Jr., and Tony Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Lucille's Grandchildern, Great Grandchildren, Great-Great Grandchildren and Friends & Family. Interment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Friday, November 6, 2020 at St. Peter's Catholic Church from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Lucille was born on January 30, 1929 to Chester Cooper and Alpha (Hollen) Cooper. She attended primary school for 8 years in Rural Drywood Lake and graduated from Sisseton High School.
Lucille married Francis George in February of 1947 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Sisseton. They lived in Roberts County all of their married life. On the George Homestead until they moved to Sisseton in 1970. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Her life was centered on her family. She was always kind and could see the best in others and in every situation. She was a wonderful cook. You never left her home hungry, she always wanted to make sure you had lunch when you came to see her.
Lucille worked at Landsbergers for twelve years, two years at Tekakwitha Nursing Home and from April of 1977 until November 30, 2010 at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital where she worked as a cook until retirement. Lucille enjoyed her work and valued the friendships she made. She passed away on October 28, 2020 at Tekakwitha Nursing Center in Sisseton, SD.
Lucille is survived by her son Virgil (Vickie) George, and daughters, Janice (Francis) Neilan, Cindy (Jerry) Steiner and Connie (Gregg) Christensen, sons-in-law, Louis Quinn and David Brown Sr., fourteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren, her sister, Marcella Aas and two brothers, Andy Thurston and Allan Thurston, a sister-in-law, Luella George and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, her son, Ronnie George and her two daughters, Linda Quinn and Carolyn Brown, her granddaughter, Chrissy George, her parents Chester and Alpha, a step-father, Ralph Thurston and her brother Wayne (Bud) Cooper.
