Funeral Service for Louise Roth, 96, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Monday, November 1, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. William Schruba officiating. Organist will be Mona Greseth and soloist will be Pat Schubert. Pallbearers will be all of Louise's Grandchildren. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Sunday, October 31, 2010, at the Cahill Funeral Chapel from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and Monday one hour prior to the funeral at the Church.
Louise G. Olson was born on October 28, 1914 to Alfred and Carrie (Boyd) Olson at Sisseton, SD. She graduated from Sisseton High School in 1933 and married Carl D. Roth on March 31, 1935. Louise was an excellent seamstress, gardener and homemaker and an accomplished card player. She and Carl farmed northwest of Sisseton for over 35 years, first on rental properties and in 1946 they purchased the Peter Mattson homestead where they resided until they purchased a retirement house in Sisseton in 1969. Louise continued working as a bookkeeper for Cenex and Carl farmed. Carl and Louise enjoy road trips and for many years spent 6 months of their year in Apache Junction, AZ. After Carl's death on Sept. 1, 1996, Louise returned to their home Arizona each winter for seven years. In 2003 Louise moved into Greenleaf Assisted Living Center and enjoyed six years there. After Louise fell in December, 2008, she entered the Tekakwitha Living Center in Sisseton. Louise passed away in Sioux Falls, SD October 29, 2010.
Louise is survived by 5 children, Gene (Martha) Roth of New Effington, SD and AZ, Lois (Duane) Devries of Lennox, SD, Larry (Barb) Roth of Blaine, MN, Clarice Grajczyk of Sisseton, SD and Robert (Doris) Roth of Bella Vista, Arkansas. Louise also leaves to mourn her 16 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 28 great-great grandchildren, as well as a sister, Alice Cripps of Braham, MN, brother Milton Olson of Coon Rapids, MN, sisters-in-laws Florence Roth of Sisseton, SD and Irene Foster of Sartel, MN, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband Carl, son-in-law William Grajczyk, daughters-in-law Rita Roth and Yvonne Roth, grandson Joseph Roth, great-grandson Dale Trautner, two brothers Clifford and James Olson, a sister Josephine Nordstrom.
