Obituary

Funeral Mass for Louise Ann Nerison, 89 formerly of New Effington and Sisseton, SD will be held on Monday, March 23, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. Fr. Dennis Deis celebrant. Organist will be Missy Heinecke and song leader will be Georgia Streier. Interment will be St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Sunday, March 22, 2009 from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel. There will be visitation on Monday one hour prior to services at the church. Louise Ann Weis was born November 7, 1919 in Sisseton, SD to Nicholas and Elizabeth (Hannasch) Weis. A lifelong and devoted Catholic, Louise was baptized and confirmed in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD. After her graduating from Sisseton High School in 1937, Louise attended one year of Business College at St. Cloud, MN. For seven years, Louise worked in Sisseton for the Farm Security Administration, a job she greatly enjoyed. On January 26, 1946, Louise married Allen (Andy) Nerison. In the years that followed, they had three children, Lana, Linda, and Jeffery. Louise and Andy moved to New Effington, SD in 1950 upon their purchase of Mahlum Hardware. Louise and Andy were beloved members of the New Effington community. The Nerison's hardware store was a New Effington institution until Louise and Andy retired in1988.When Louise and Andy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, South Dakotans traveled from near and far to raise a glass in their honor. Always active in her church, Louise served as lector at New Effington's Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years. Summers frequently found Louise and Andy fishing from their property of Lake Traverse. Louise enjoyed bowling and sewing. An avid reader, Louise frequently worked crossword puzzles in pen. In recent years, Louise lived in both Wisconsin and Montana. Her lively spirit and outgoing nature won her friends wherever she went. Louise died peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 in Missoula, MT.
Louise is survived by her three children, Jeff and wife, Kathleen Nerison of Frenchtown, MT, Linda and husband, Dale Gardner of Wasilla, AK, and Lana and husband, Paul Roberts of Waukesha, WI, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Andy, her parents, her sisters, Rose, Agnes and Eleanor, and her brother Raymond Weis.
