Funeral Services for Lorna L. Hanes, 95, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Cahill Funeral Chapel in Sisseton, South Dakota, with the Rev. Paul Osborne officiating. Organist will be Steven Eneboe and music by Sheila Gagnon, Megan Grzeskowiak and Dean Lehrke. Pallbearers will be Doug Flannery, Lynn Guthrie, George Flannery, Brad Pond, Randy Flannery, and Becca Guthrie. Honorary Pallbearers are all of Lorna's many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be on Friday September 28, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at Cahill Funeral Chapel in Sisseton and one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday. Lorna Flannery was born on March 15, 1917 at Peever, SD to George and Margaret (Douglas) Flannery. After her education Lorna was married to John Hanes on May 18, 1947. She worked at the Cambridge, MN State Hospital as a nursing assistant and received a certificate of Senior Psychiatric Technician and Licensed Practical Nurse in December of 1972. She went on to complete courses in Rehabilitation Nursing helping many residents. Lorna moved to Sisseton, SD in 1988 and lived at the Jard Apartments where she came to know many friends. She attended the Christian Missionary Alliance church where she was an active member and grew spiritually. Lorna was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion Auxiliaries, and was the treasurer for the Sisseton Senior Citizens. Her hobbies included knitting, and crocheting blankets, traveling to Hawaii, Colorado, California, hunting in Wyoming, camping and riding horses. She also loved to visit with her family, attend gatherings, and visiting with friends. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Lorna is survived by one sister-in-law Marlene Flannery of Sisseton, SD and many nieces and nephews.
Lorna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister Kathleen, and two brothers, George and Marshall Flannery Sr.
