Memorial Service for LoRita LE Loney, 40, of Benson, Minnesota will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD with the Gerald Heminger Jr. CRE officiating.  Urn Bearers will be Marshall Loney and Shania Loney.  Honorary Urn Bearers will be Jack Weber, Andre Lawrence, Floyd Beaudreau, Maynard Beaudreau, James Lawrence, Eyan Herigon, God Parents Ken & Jane Loney.  Lunch will be served at the Lake Traverse District Center, Lake Traverse following the memorial service.  LoRita will be buried at Big Coulee by her son, Michael Alan Loney and her late Grandpa Fred Lawrence, Mike Lawrence and many uncles and aunts, at a later date.  The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.

LoRita LE Loney was born on February 4, 1982 in Sisseton, SD to Gene and Janis (Lawrence) Loney.  They lived In Sisseton for one year then they moved to Lake Traverse till 2000.   When LoRita was 11 years old she ended up getting strep throat/rheumatic fever which changed her life causing damage to her heart.  She went through many heart surgeries.  During her teenage years she worked at Dairy Queen, Alco and the telephone place in Browns Valley.   LoRita loved to bake and cook.  When her Grandma Daisy was alive she spent a lot of time at her place cooking and being taught new recipes. She also spent her time with her late Grandparents Levis & Loretta Lawrence, great grandparents Fred Lawrence and Jennie Lawrence of Peever, SD.  In 2000 she ended up moving to Michigan for a year. After coming back she had her daughter Mariah. Not too long after she met Dalen and ended up moving with him and his son, Eyan, by Hancock, MN.  They were together for 13 years.    In 2021 LoRita, Mariah, and Eyan Herigon moved into Benson, MN on their own.  LoRita was so proud to be in the house they were renting because it had a huge kitchen for her. LoRita passed away on August 24, 2022 at Abbot Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis, MN following heart surgery.

LoRita is survived by her daughter Mariah Loney and Evan Herigon of Benson, MN; her parents Gene Loney of Lake Traverse and Janis Loney of Peever SD; one brother, Marshall (Crystal) Loney of Rosholt, SD; one sister, Shania Loney of Browns Valley, MN; Godparents Ken and Jane Loney of Cohoran, MN; Aunt Sharon Loney of Minneapolis, MN; uncle Mitch Lawrence of Peever, Maynard Beaudreau of Peever, SD and Floyd Beaudreau of New Effington, SD.

LoRita was preceded in death by her son, Michael Loney; maternal grandparents Levi and Loretta Lawrence; paternal grandparents, Grant and Daisy Loney; Uncles Joe (Darrell) Peterson, Chuck Peterson, Wayne Lawrence, Michael Lawrence and Aunt Mavis Lawrence and Norma Lawrence.
