Funeral Service for Loretta Jeanne Mundy, 83, of Minneapolis, MN, formally of Browns Valley, SD will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Lake Traverse District Center, Browns Valley, SD with Butch Felix officiating. Wake services will be held Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 4:00 P.M. at Lake Traverse District Center, Browns Valley, SD. Pallbearers are Frank Mundy, Tom Bender, Travis Goodstar, Kenneth DuMarce, Mark Affeldt, and Brandon Borchardt. Honorary Pallbearers are Julie Sims, Jacquelyn Leathers, Alan Monroe Mundy, and Phillip Albert Mundy. Interment will be in the Lake Traverse Presbyterian Cemetery, Browns Valley, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Loretta was born on July 27, 1936 in Easter Township in Roberts County, SD to Albert and Martha Goodstar. She grew up and graduated from the Browns Valley High School. After high school Loretta and Frank moved to Minneapolis, MN where they raised their family. She worked for many years as a Medical Record Specialist for the University of Minnesota Hospital, Sears, and many other jobs. She was the backbone of the family following Franks death in the early 1970's. She was always willing to help anyone with the little things that mean the most. Loretta was a Christian woman. She had a love for country music, mainly the music of Merle Haggard.

She was the best grandma ever and will be missed by many. She was her grandchildren's buddy and had lots of friends. Loretta passed away peacefully at her home in Minneapolis, MN on Thursday, October 17, 2019 surrounded by her children following a 3 year long illness.

Loretta is survived by her children Julie Sims, Jacquelyn Leathers, Alan Mundy, and Phillip Mundy; a brother Albert Starr; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
