Funeral Mass for Lois Ann Nigg, 71 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Fr. Jerry Ranek celebrant. Organist will be Colette Hull and song leader will be Sandi Jaspers. Pallbearers will be Ben Fonder, Elliott Fonder, Caden Nigg, Jadzia Nigg, Liam Sprague, and Maya Sprague. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Lois's grandchildren, family and friends. Interment will be in the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. and one hour prior to services at the Church. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Lois Ann Fonder was born on December 1, 1945 in Sisseton, SD to LaVerne and Dorothy (Fischer) Fonder. She attended Catholic Grade School and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1963. She met her husband, Pat Nigg while working together at the Warren's Red Owl Grocery Store. Pat and Lois were united in marriage on August 7, 1971 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD. They had two children, Chad and Nicole. Lois worked at various jobs throughout her life, including Red Owl, Tekakwitha Nursing Home, Home health aide, Power Sentry, School cook and the City Bakery. Her most important job of all was a stay at home mother and homemaker. Her interests varied, but first and foremost was her family. Other interests included playing cards, NASCAR races, the Minnesota Twins, and country music. She was also a lifelong Elvis Fan. Lois passed away on November 20, 2017 at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND after a brief but valiant battle with cancer.
Lois is survived by her husband, Pat; a son, Chad (Charlene) Nigg of Marshall, MN; a daughter, Nicole (Kevin) Philbrick of Bedford, NH; grandchildren Caden and Jadzia Nigg and Cameron and Emerson Philbrick; three sisters, Debra Fonder of Norfolk, NE, Julie (Joe) Guthrie of Aberdeen, SD, Kay (Brad) Sprague, of Shawnee, KS; three brothers, Craig (Teresa) Fonder of Wessington Springs, SD, Allan Fonder of Sisseton, SD, and Tim (Barb) Fonder of Savage, MN; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
