Lois Marie Weeks was born September 22, 1951, to Willis and Shirley (Williams) Weeks in Sisseton, SD. She grew up on the family farm near Browns Valley, MN, the second of six children. Lois attended school in Browns Valley, graduating with the Class of '69. She never missed a reunion, as she enjoyed reconnecting with her classmates. Growing up Lois was active in the United Methodist Church, 4-H, and the school band. After high school, she attended Watertown Business University in Watertown, SD.
Over the years Lois held various office jobs at the BIA, Farmers Home Administration, the Federated Church in Grafton, ND and at Lowell Lundstrom Ministries. But she considered her most important job was being a homemaker.
On December 30, 1976, Lois married Marlow Aadland at the Assembly of God Church in Sisseton. They spent forty-nine wonderful years together and were blessed with two children, Jason and Sarah. Most of their married life was lived in Sisseton, SD except for 10 years in Grafton, ND.
Family was very important to Lois. She was devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren, supporting and encouraging them always. She enjoyed family gatherings all through the years, being with her immediate and extended family both. She loved and appreciated them all. She was always interested in learning more about her family's history and was a member of the Mayflower Society.
Lois was an active member of Family Life Assembly of God Church in Sisseton. Her church family was important to her as well. Over the years she was involved in Bible studies, prayer group, Women's Ministries, teaching Missionettes and other children's ministries, serving in the kitchen and other areas where needed. Lois' faith in Jesus Christ was at the center of her life. She loved studying God's Word and worshiping her Savior as she listened to hymns and contemporary worship music.
Lois also enjoyed reading, word games, puzzles, going to auctions and antique stores to reminisce about old times and going for drives to look at the countryside.
Special thanks to the compassionate care Lois received from the Prairie Lakes Hospice and Home Health Care nurses and the Coteau des Prairies hospital doctors and nurses. We greatly appreciate all of you.
Lois is survived by her husband Marlow Aadland of Sisseton, SD; children Jason (Zana) Aadland of Oklahoma City, OK and Sarah Aadland of Sisseton, SD; grandchildren Landen Aadland, Logan Aadland, and Liem Aadland, all of Oklahoma City, OK; sisters Ruth (Alan) Kotzea of Webster, SD, Jill Weeks of Kansas City, MO, Gail (Larry) Bosma of Fargo, ND, and Jane Ayala of Fargo, ND; siblings-in law Mark (Laureen) Aadland of Brookings, SD, Gail Aadland of Rapid City, SD, Naomi (John) Brady of Watford City, ND, Dale (Rebecca) Aadland of Sisseton, SD, and Susan Weeks of Peever, SD.
