Funeral Service for Linda K. Lowe, 58, of Wilmot, South Dakota will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the Wilmot Lutheran Church, Wilmot, SD with the Rev. Craig Werling officiating. Organist will be Janice Vreim with music by the congregation. Pallbearers will be Brock Overberg, Kenny Theye, Preston Theye, Jay Moen, Howard Heinje, and Jordan Bauer. Interment will be in the Wilmot Cemetery, Wilmot, SD. There will be visitation on Monday, May 30, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:45 at the Wilmot Lutheran Church, and one hour prior to the services in the church on Tuesday. Linda Kay Christensen was born on February 8, 1953 in Sisseton, SD to Willy and Ruth (Tostenson) Christensen. She attended grade school in Peever, SD and graduated from Wilmot High School in 1971. Linda also attended North Dakota State School of Science for Licensed Practical Nursing, graduating in 1973. She attended the University of South Dakota and received her RN degree in 2009. Linda was married to Brian Lowe on July 21, 1973 in Wilmot, SD. They lived near Wilmot, farming and raising their three children. Linda enjoyed her nursing career, working in the Wilmot and Browns Valley, MN Clinics and nursing homes. Most recently she was working at the Golden Living Center in Milbank, SD. Linda was a lifelong member of the Wilmot Lutheran Church. She was a marvelous cook who enjoyed spending time with her family in the kitchen. She had a love for caring for both children and the elderly. Linda savored quiet time at the lake, reading books, and listening to music. Her latest joy in life was the blessing of being a grandmother. Linda passed away at her home on May 26, 2011.
Linda is survived by her husband Brian of Wilmot, SD, her daughter Christie and husband Duane Sutherland of Volga, SD, her sons Jared of St. Louis Park, MN, and Matthew of Wilmot, SD, and her grandchildren Carter and Alyssa Sutherland of Volga, SD, her mother Ruth Christensen of Watertown, SD, her brothers, Gary Christensen of Inglewood, CA and Ray Christensen of Wilmot, SD and her sister, Fay and husband Gary Overberg of Wilmot, SD, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her father Willy.
