Lily Ann Runnels(Horne) Wakan Mani Winyan "Holy Walking Woman", 76, of Watertown, SD passed away on April 3, 2024, in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center in Agency Village, SD at 1:00 P.M. There will be an All-Night Wake service on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD starting at 7:00 P.M. Officiating the service will be Father Charles Chan and the Episcopal Lay Readers. Drum Group will be Old Agency Singers. Organist will be Billy Kohl. Pall Bearers will be Cody Runnels, Seth Flute, Anthony McKinney, Jaymin Runnels, Isaiah Renville Jr., Nathan Howard, Ladonna Runnels, Olivia Lily Horne, Alondra Perry, and Damien Cadotte Jr. Honorary Pall Bearers will be her Dakota Sioux Coworkers, St. Johns Ladies Aide, The Runnels Family, All of Her Family and Friends, grandchildren LaDonna Runnels, Cody Runnels, Anthony McKinney, Isaiah McKinney, Lyla McKinney, Jaymin Runnels, Jelaina LaBatte, Mercedez Cadotte, Damien Codotte Jr., Mariah Codotte, Alondra Perry, Mahkpiya Yugan, Isaiah Renville, Amina and Sebastian Westerman, Nathan Howard, Akicita Dumarce, Lonald Duane Rennels III and great-grandchildren Samara, Onyx, and Matteo Runnels. Interment will be at the St. John's Episcopal Cemetery following the service.

Lily Ann Runnels(Horne) was born to Morgan Eli Horne and Grace LaBelle on November 23, 1947, in Sisseton, SD. She attended the Eastern #4 rural school, Browns Valley High School, and Flandreau High School before obtaining a GED in Sisseton, SD. In pursuit of education in nursing, Lily was enrolled in the Quad City College in Illinois and the United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, ND. After her time at UTTC, she lived in Aberdeen, SD for about a year. From there she moved to Browns Valley, MN on the family homestead. Lily married Lonald Runnels Sr. on March 15, 1976. Together they started a family in Watertown, SD. The couple then moved back to the Browns Valley homestead and lived there. In 1987, the family moved back to Watertown and have lived there since. Lily worked at Oak Valley Farms as a line worker for a few years in Watertown. She then worked at the Dakota Sioux Casino as a porter supervisor for twenty-seven years and retired in 2021. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. John Episcopal Church, where she was a lifelong member. While living in Watertown, she attended the Trinity Episcopal Church. Lily loved spending time with and taking care of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, doing crafts, rummaging, playing slots, and video chatting with family and friends. Lily loved to travel, attend powwows and ceremonies, and watch movies. Lily was fun, loving, and had a very good sense of humor. She was a strong woman who put family first and was a water protector (Oceti Sakowin). Lily passed away on April 3, 2024, at Ava's House in Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by family and friends.

Lily is survived by her children Daris Runnels of Watertown, SD, Lydia McKinney of Watertown, SD, Sara Marie Runnels of Watertown, SD, Londa Pearl Runnels of Watertown, SD, Lucinda Rose Runnels of Watertown, SD, and Lonald Duane Runnels II of Watertown, SD; sisters Zelma Dianne Flute of Agency Village, SD and Paula May Horne of Veblen, SD; grandchildren LaDonna Runnels, Cody Runnels, Anthony Mckinney, Isaiah McKinney, Lyla McKinney, Jaymin Runnels, Jelaina LaBatte, Mercedez Cadotte, Damien Codotte Jr., Mariah Codotte, Alondra Perry, Mahkpiya Yugan, Isaiah Renville, Amina and Sebastian Westerman, Nathan Howard, Akicita Dumarce, Lonald Duane Rennels III; great-grandchildren Samara, Onyx, and Matteo Runnels; loving pet Carl; nieces Mary Ann Horne of Sisseton, SD, Regina Elizabeth Horne of Watertown, SD, Raquel Horne of Sisseton, SD, Sylvana J Crawford of Agency Village, SD, Grace Horne of Minneapolis, MN, Cheyenne Horne of Minneapolis, MN, and Wahopi Zephier of California; nephews Reginald Horne Jr. of Wilmot, SD, Sylvanus Flute Jr. of Browns Valley, MN, Saville Flute of Agency Village, SD, Sylvan Flute of Agency Village, SD, Stacey Flute of Agency Village, SD, Seth Flute of Agency Village, SD, Sky Horne of Oregon, Owintino Horne of Oregon, Sunny Zephier of Sisseton, SD, and DeCorah Horne-Mullen of Sisseton, SD; Goddaughters Jamie German of Rosholt, SD and Rae Deann Finley of Watertown, SD.

Lily is preceded in death by her husband Lonald Runnels Sr.; parents Morgan "Eli" Horne and Grace LaBelle; son Derek Travis Runnels; brother Reginald Horne Sr.; grandsons Mahpito Keith Hawk Jr. and Luis McKinney/Gonzalez; nephew Waylon C. Horne; and niece Deidra Lufkins.
