There will be a Funeral Service for Lester "Pug" Crawford, 83, of Sisseton, SD, on Friday, September 4, 2026, at the Heipa District Center, Veblen, SD, at 12:00 P.M. There will be a private family All-Night Wake service on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the Heipa District Center, Veblen, SD, starting at 7:00 P.M. There will be an All-Night Wake service on Thursday, September 3, 2026, also at the Heipa District Center, Veblen, SD, starting at 7:00 P.M. Officiating the services will be Pastor Vern Donnell, Cecil Renville, and Diane Renville. Pall Bearers will be Jake Demarrias, Scott Bracey, Lester Bracey, Layton Wanna, Marcel Wanna, Lincoln J. Wanna, John Heminger, Tate Crawford, Richard Crawford, Bill "Bummer" Cox, and David Cloud Jr. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Vernon Crawford, Raymond Neval, Dennis Seeley, Francis Boyer, Ivan Growl, Spencer Wanna, Verlyn Tracy, Darrell Renville, Rita Finley, Bernie Kohl, and Kamaya Kongi. Military Rites by Dakota Kit Fox Society. Drum Group will be All Singers. Interment will be at the St. Luke's Episcopal Cemetery, Veblen, SD. Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD, is in charge of arrangements.

Lester "Pug" Percy Crawford passed onto the spirit world on August 31, 2026, at the Tekakwitha Nursing Center, Sisseton SD. He was born on August 28, 1943.  He was born to Edith "Robertson" Crawford and Lester Crawford. He attended elementary school at the Wahpeton Indian School, and he graduated from Flandreau Indian School. After graduating from high school, he joined the Navy and served for four years. Part of his service included his time in the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he settled into Alameda, California and attended the Electrical Technical School in San Francisco. That is where he met and married the love of his life and best friend Louise (Yazzie) Crawford. He started a company with his friend Ivan Growl called Alameda Office Supply and it ran for 20 years. After he sold his business in Alameda he moved back to Eden, SD to work for the Elders Program at Old Agency. He was a faithful member of the Buffalo Lake Presbyterian Church and found pleasure in upkeeping the church and grounds for the sake of Francis Crawford & family. One of his greatest hobbies was fishing with his grandson Raymond.

He leaves behind two daughters Lindsay Crawford and Lesley Rodriguez; sisters Rose (Robin) Mcquire and Lillian (Spencer) Wanna; grandchildren Lindsay Tautaltasi, Raymond Nevel, Emma Rodriguez, and Cecilia Rodriguez; and many other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents Edith and Lester; strongly connected to Francis and Marie Crawford; paternal grandparents Cora and Abraham Crawford; maternal grandparents Angeline and Williams Robertson; siblings Earl Crawford, Donald Crawford, Gary Crawford, June Azure, and Cora Cox.
