Leo Royce Spindler was born on September 21, 1936 in Browns Valley, Minnesota to Anton and Elizabeth (Reineke) Spindler.  He married the love of his life Ardelle Ives on June 15, 1960 in Sisseton, SD, They were blessed with three children. The couple farmed and raised their family with most of their years spent in Veblen, SD. Leo's hands truly told a story. He worked hard for many years providing for his family.  All who knew Leo knew that he would drop anything to help and never expected anything in return. Although his hands were worn and weathered, they were also so gentle, kind, and caring. Leo felt rewarded by the service work he provided while working at Cenex in Veblen, SD driving bulk truck and also working in the shop. He had a vision to create and fix anything. Leo was proud of his small engine repair shop business, and his patience shown through as he worked on many lawn mowers, weed eaters, and even jet skis. Leo had a love for all animals, with a variety of family pets over the years. He also enjoyed his Harley; He and Ardelle took many trips on their motorcycle and made memories to last a lifetime. Ardelle passed away on September 29, 2011. Leo's most treasured gift was his family, his kids, his grandkids, and his great-grandkids. Their visits, whether in-person, on the phone, or via Face time brought pure joy to his day. Leo passed away on January 12, 2023 at the Browns Valley Health Care Center, Browns Valley, MN.

Leo is survived by his three children, David (Armina) Spindler of Browns Valley, MN, Theresa (Mark) Granquist of Milbank, SD and Peggie Aadland of Aberdeen, SD; six grandchildren, Joe (Sarah) Aadland, Jess (Shaun) Falken, Derek (Sajani) Granquist, Jenna (Chris) Galvin, Joe Colago and Lindsay Spindler: nine great grandchildren, Maya, Elliot, Maxwell, Delainey, Chael, Charlee, Maddy, Asher and Kaden.

Leo was preceded in death by his parent, Anton and Elizabeth Spindler, his wife Ardelle and one sister Delores Biel.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the past 11 years to the staff at Browns Valley Health Center for the love and care given to Leo.
