Lenord LeRoy Krueger was born on March 16, 1930 at home with the assistance from a midwife to Robert and Laura (Nerison) Krueger. He grew up in Peever, SD and graduated from high school in 1951.  He worked through his high school years for Vig's and was a proud Peever Panther basketball player.  Following graduation he enlisted in the US Navy and was active from 1951 to 1955 where he received a National Service Medal, along with a Navy OCC Service Medal.  He served his Navy career on the USS Betelgeuse (AK-260) during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge he made his way back to Peever and met the love of his life Mavis Darlene Cleveland and was married on December 22, 1956 in Wheaton, MN.  Lenord worked numerous jobs throughout his life, including the construction of Big Stone Power Plant and eventually retiring in Clark, SD, where he worked for the city as Waste Water Manager.  Lenord and Mavis started their family in 1957 with Karen being the first born, followed by Lindsay, Tamra, twins Mary and Marty, Robert, Lynnette and Lana.  In his free time Lenny enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, camping and loved attending coin shows.  His most memorable times were with his family enjoying outdoor movies in the station wagon and moms bread bags full of popcorn, eating out at Ikes Chicken Shack and his summer trips to Sturgis Rally with his wife and boys. He also enjoyed his time with "Blackie" his rescue cat.  He was a Member of the Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post #50 and Fort Sisseton VFW Post #3343, and Peever Community Club.  Lenny will be long remembered for his story telling and his infectious laugh. Lenord passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Jenkins Living Center, Watertown, SD, after his long hard fight and courageous battle with cancer and Alzheimer's.
