Funeral service for LeiLani Rae Bernard, 26, of Veblen, SD will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the Big Coulee District Center, Big Coulee, SD with Jr. Heminger, and Pastor Milton Owen officiating. Special music will be provided by Butch Felix with the Bernard Boys Drum group. Pallbearers will be Thurston Owen, Curtis Fayant, Justin Bagola Jr., Dion Bernard, Chris Feather, and Chris Felicia Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Gabriella Bagola, Jocelyn Bagola, Shawnda Bernard, Jahna Bernard, Michaela Felicia, Tasha Bernard, and Raquel Wiggins, Interment will be in the Ascension Presbyterian Cemetery, Big Coulee, SD. There will be an all night wake on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 7:00 PM also at the Big Coulee District Center. The Covid 19 guidelines will be strictly followed. The Cahill Funeral Chapel in Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Leilani Rae Bernard was born in Sisseton, South Dakota on April 4, 1994 to Stephanie Bagola and Lee Bernard Sr. She attended school in Sisseton and Tiospa-Zina and graduated from Tiospa-Zina in 2014.

After graduation, LeiLani went to work for Dakota Magic Casino as a porter. On October 30, 2015, LeiLani gave birth to the love of her life, Leo James. She loved him more than anything in this world.

LeiLani loved animals, loved the colors blue and pink. She loved to eat noodles and hamburger. She also loved to take long car rides, liked to go to the movies. LeiLani loved her job at Dakota Magic, and loved to gamble. She loved her Grandpa Sonny dearly, and loved listening and singing music.

LeiLani passed away suddenly at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital on July 10, 2020.

LeiLani is survived by her son Leo James, her mother, Stephanie Bagola, sisters, Raelana Bernard, Tasha Bernard, Shawnda Bernard, her brothers, Peter LaFromboise Jr. and Lee Bernard Jr., her paternal grandmother Edwina Bernard, and maternal grandpas, Larry Lowe, and Joe White, and maternal grandmas Jackie Lowe, and Kathy White.

LeiLani was preceded in death by her father Lee Bernard Sr, her paternal grandfather Orsen Bernard, maternal grandparents George and Juanita (Owen) Bagola, and uncles, Lester Bernard, Justin Bagola Sr, and Shane Owen.
