Funeral Service for Lee A. Robinson, 77 of Brookings, SD formerly of Sisseton, SD will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. John Barkett officiating. Organist will be Ember Dady with special music by Jessi Robinson. Pallbearers will be Kyle Robinson, Chad Robinson, Austin Knutson, Keith Guy, Jasper Guy and Kevin Guy. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Lee's great-grandchildren, family and friends. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Cahill Funeral Chapel from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Monday. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of Funeral arrangements.
Lee Albert Robinson was born in Sisseton, SD at the Tekakwitha Hospital to Donald and Myrtle (Birdsall) Robinson on November 7, 1939. On May 28, 1959 he was united in marriage to Grace Jensen. They have two children, Steve and Leanne. Lee and Grace made their home in Sisseton until moving to Brookings in March 2011 to be close to Steve, Penny and family. Lee was diagnosed with alzheimer's the fall of 2003. He was able to remain in his home until December 23, 2015, when he entered the memory care unit at the United Living Community. Lee's first job was working for Garfield Landmark doing carpentry. He helped Grace's parents in the painting business, was delivery person for Stavig Bros. He worked for the City Bakery as a delivery person and baker, he also worked part time helping on the Gordon Stapleton farm and Horton's locker. His last employment was custodian at Westside Elementary retiring July 1, 2005. Lee got his love for horses from his uncle Pete Guy and Aunt Ethel, they were his second family. One of his great joys was taking the grandchildren on trail rides. He loved bowling, hunting, fishing, camping and loved to get together with his cousins for card games and competitive fun.
Lee is survived by his wife Grace of Brookings, SD; son Steven (Penny) and their children Erin (Austin) Knutson, Jonah, Evelyn and Landree; Kyle (Beth) Robinson, Averie and Easton; Chad (Jessi) Robinson all living in or near Brookings; daughter, Leanne Robinson and her daughter Kirsten of Grand Forks, ND and son Travis of Bismarck, ND; one sister Ila Rae Kaufman of Ortonville, MN.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Darrell, and one sister Eleanor.
Memorials will be given to Alzheimer's Research and Gracepoint Wesleyan building fund for Kidspoint.
