Obituary

Funeral Service for Lee K. Bernard Sr., Wakinya Topa " Four Thunder," 57, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD with Pastor Nippy Owen officiating with Drum Group Old Agency Singers. Military Rites will be performed by the Kit Fox Society. Pallbearers will be Tasha Bernard, Shawnda Bernard, Peter LaFromboise, Jr., Dougie War Eagle, Justin Bagola, Jr. and Floyd Clown, Sr. Honorary Pallbearers will be All of Lee's friends, family, and co-workers from Woodland Cabinetry. Interment will be in the Sisseton Wahpeton Sioux Veterans Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. Wake Services will be held at the Sisseton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 7:00 P.M. and an all night wake on Thursday, August 29, 2019. Lee passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at his residence in Sisseton, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Lee Kerwin Bernard Sr. was born on August 16, 1962 in Salem, Oregon to Orsen Bernard and Edwina (Clown) Bernard. He attended school in Roslyn, SD where he graduated high school. Lee joined the United States Army on July 15, 1982 to July 12, 1985. After his service in the army, Lee returned back to the South Dakota area and resided in Sisseton where he started a family. He was just shy of his 15 year anniversary at Woodland Carpentry. Lee enjoyed bingo, slots at the casino, movies, and a Minnesota Viking fan.

Lee is survived by his children, Tasha Bernard, Shawnda Bernard, Raelana Bernard, Leilani Bernard, Lee Bernard Jr., and Peter LaFromboise, Jr.; mother Edwina Bernard; sister Lisa Bernard; lifelong companion Stephanie Bagola; grandchildren Kevin LaFromboise, Leo Williams, Skyler Redhorn Jr., Serenity Bernard, Eli Bernard, Anissa Bernard and Harmony Bernard; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Lee was preceded in death by his father, Orsen Bernard and brother Lester Bernard.
