Funeral Service for LaVonne Grimsrud, 88, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church in Sisseton, South Dakota with Vicar Pat Schubert officiating. Pallbearers will be Randy Grimsrud, Mark Grimsrud, Roni Sweeney, Mike Sweeney, Jon Sweeney, and Tyler Brooks. Honorary Pallbearers will be all LaVonne's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There will be a visitation on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Cahill Funeral Chapel. Masks and social distancing are recommended . The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

LaVonne Marcia Grimsrud passed away on March 6, 2022 at Eventide Care Center in Fargo, North Dakota after a 9 year battle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. She was born on December 28, 1933 in Sisseton, South Dakota to Oscar and Pearl Johnson. LaVonne grew up with 6 brothers on a farm near Sisseton. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She attended country school and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1951. After graduation she attended NSU and taught country school for three years in Bossko and Grant Townships. LaVonne married Donald Grimsrud on May 23, 1955. They farmed and raised their family northwest of Sisseton. After losing Donald to an accident in 1972, she continued to live on her farm until moving to Eventide January 25, 2022. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and served on many boards and committees. She enjoyed spending time with her family, baking, quilting, walking and the changing of the seasons.

LaVonne is survived by her four children Roni (Mike) Sweeney of Mitchellville, IA., Randy Grimsrud of Sisseton, SD, Mary Ann (Grant) Colling of Omaha, NE., and Mark (Peggy) Grimsrud of Sisseton, SD. Four grandchildren Jon (Kayla) Sweeney, Jennifer (Alexandre) Gelbard, Ian Colling, and Aidan Colling. Three step-grandchildren Ben Colling, Brittany (Jordan) Wollschlager and Tyler (Tara) Brooks; four great-grandsons, four great-granddaughters and a great-granddaughter due in July

LaVonne is preceded in death by her husband Donald Grimsrud; her parents Oscar and Pearl Johnson; Brothers Erwin, Wayne, Vern, Darrel, Odean, and Ronald; and 2 infant sisters Ardis and Geraldine.
