Larry was born 1/14/1948 in Sisseton to Midel Moen and Josephine (Grinde) Moen. He graduated from SHS in 1966 and Northern University in 1970. He was united in Marriage to Marjorie Ruth (Harvey) Moen on January 24, 1970 in Mitchell, SD.

In 1970 they moved to Robbinsdale, MN, where they were blessed with two daughters, Tamara (Moen) Bojorquez in 1971 and Teresa (Moen) Suida in 1973. In Minneapolis, Larry worked for First Bank Systems, Shamrock Industries and finally Health Central, as an accountant. Because of his accounting expertise, Health Central moved him to several of their managed hospitals: Long Prairie, MN (where he found a farmhouse with no running water, leaky roof, and no septic system, but fell in love with the wood cook stove, so he bought it anyway. He also decided to raise pigs and chickens, while working full time); Butte, MT (where he had to deal with 13 different unions and potentially closing the hospital. A difficult assignment for him, having the responsibility for so many people's livelihood, but thoroughly enjoyed the mountains); and Hibbing, MN (where his reputation followed him as the "Darth Vader" from Butte) & ultimately to Saipan (not Saigon), Northern Mariana Islands, for the US Dept of Interior where he set up the financial systems for a $270M Hospital (enjoying the 85 degree year round temperature he decided to stay for 15+ years). He subsequently opened his own trading company in Saipan, a produce store and eventually moved to Guam and worked for Payless Market's Home Office. In 1999, they moved back to Sisseton, where he worked for Dakota Western Corp. and CDP Hospital. His entrepreneurial spirit had him owning a gas station, storage units, 24 rental properties and property in Costa Rica, besides working full time.

At the age of 74, Larry got his wings on January 22, 2022 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND surrounded by family. At his death, he was "retired" and enjoying his hallmark movies, reading and managing his remaining five houses. He was also the Treasurer of the Sisseton Senior Center.

Larry is survived by his wife Marge of Sisseton; his two daughters, Tamara (Rene) Bojorquez of Fairfield, CA and Teresa Suida of Sisseton, SD; a brother Maynard (Sharon) Moen of Wilmot, SD, a honorary brother, Emilio Zalles of Costa Rica and a sister Elaine Pederson of Canby, MN; sister-in-laws Carol Moen of Sisseton, SD, Kathleen Johnson of Sisseton, SD, Pauletta Moen of Evansville, Indiana and Darlene Thrun of Watertown, SD; three grandchildren Austin Suida, Melissa Bojorquez and adopted grandson, Schuyler Regan; two great grandchildren, Solomon & Benjamin Fitzgerald; many Moen "Extras" and nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers Clayton, Eddie, Ray and Arden Moen;one sister, Connie Moen; and one niece Leisha Moen.
