Obituary

Funeral Service for Larry J. Holton, 85 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at   11:00 A.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD with Pastor Suzie Benidt officating. The pallbearers will be Rick Misterek, Lundee Stadtler, Nicholas Holton, Jesse Cote, and Jason Moon. The interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Parker, SD at 4:30 P.M. on Saturday. There will be visitation at the Cahill Funeral Chapel on Saturday June 1, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. to service time. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Larry John Holton was born on February 13, 1939, to John and Alyce (Visser) Holton on the Donahue-Holton Homestead. Larry attended grade school at Rural Charles Mix County, SD graduating in May 1953 and then attended High School at St. Mary's and graduated in May 1957. Larry served in the South Dakota Army National Guard from 1956 to 1966 as a construction Surveyor and Supervisor of Construction Projects. He attended South Dakota State University, Brookings, SD where he received a BS in Engineering. Following his education Larry was hired as a Project Engineer with the South Dakota State Highway Department in April 1965. Larry then was promoted to Resident Engineer in charge of the Sisseton Residency of the South Dakota Division of Highways Department of Transportation in Sisseton, SD in May 1972 until April 1980. At which time he resigned as Engineer to put full time effort into the running of the Holton Engineering Inc as owner and founder. Larry was a Viking Fan. Larry was highly active on the Board of Friends of Step Outside for kids in Roberts County Sportsman Club for thirty-nine years and Roberts County Zoning Board for 20 years. Larry passed away on May 18, 2024, at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Larry is survived by sister-in-law Carol Holton; brother-in-law John Moon; nephews Nicholas Holton (Katie); Jason Moon; nieces Erin Cote (Jesse); Sarah Moon. Also survived by great nephew Dillon Cote, great nieces Annie and Harper Cote, Kaitlyn, and Avery Holton.

Preceded in death by parents John and Alyce Holton; sisters, Vivian Holton, and Tonya Moon; brothers Berand Holton and Patrick Holton.

In leu of flowers a memorials can go to Roberts County Sportsman Club and ear marked for step outside.
