Funeral Service for Lana Rose Jaeger, 56, of Aberdeen, SD, will be on August 29, 2025, at the St. James Episcopal Church in Enemy Swim, SD at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. Charles Chan and the St. James Episcopal Lay Readers officiating. There will be an All-Night Wake on Thursday, August 28, 2025, starting at 7:00 P.M. at the St. James Guild Hall in Enemy Swim, SD. Pallbearers will be Andrew Martinez, Alex Martinez, Jeffrey Martinez, Dominic Jaeger, Damien Jaeger, and Aubryanna Hernandez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Anthony Johnson, Vina Williams, Margaret Hopkins, Vincent Jaeger, Nina Johnson, Karen Joseph, Bonnie Rencountre, Donna Rouillard, Sharen Rencountre, Carole Rencountre, Jody (Jo Ann) Rencountre, Delbert (Roly) Hopkins Jr., Lana Rencountre, and Jacquie Fellbaum. Interment will be at the St. James Episcopal Cemetery, Enemy Swim, SD. Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Lana Rose Jaeger was born on June 17, 1969, to LeLand Vincent Jaeger and Eileen Johnson in Inglewood, California. She attended the Henry Neil grade school in Aberdeen, SD. After this, she attended school in Billings, MT and Gallup, NM before returning to and graduating from Central High School in Aberdeen, SD. During her high school years in New Mexico, Lana worked with her sister at Baskin-Robbins, worked at the Flying J in Albuquerque, NM, and met Charles (Tiny) Martinez. Together, they had 5 children: Andrew, Alex, Jeffrey, Dominic, and Damien. Lana spent about 20 years with Charles in the New Mexico area before moving back to South Dakota in 2010. She worked at the Dakota Sioux in Watertown, SD and was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church in Enemy Swim, SD. Lana enjoyed writing poems, collecting rocks, listening to music, and watching the 49ers. She showed us love and how to love each other. Lana passed away on August 24, 2025, at her family home in Aberdeen, SD.
Lana is survived by her parents LeLand Vincent Jaeger and Eileen Johnson; children Andrew Martinez of Watertown, SD, Alex and Jeffrey Martinez of Gallup, New Mexico, Dominic and Damien Jaeger of Aberdeen, SD; siblings Verma Jaeger of Yuma, AZ, Susie Jaeger of Lawndale, CA, Gail Jaeger of Aberdeen, SD, Selina Johnson of Waubay, SD, Blake Thorell of Lincoln, NE, and 5 grandchildren.
Lana is preceded in death by her cousin Kevin Jaeger; nephew Silas Johnson; maternal grandparents Silas Johnson and Geraldine (Christenson) Johnson; maternal great-grandparents Joakin Christenson and Florence (Bluedog) Christenson.
