Obituary

Memorial Service for Krag C. Almos, 64 of Eden, SD will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 4:00 P.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel in Sisseton, SD with Pastor Vern Donnell officiating. Organist will be Sarah Aadland, Soloist will be Pat Schubert. Honorary Urn bearers will be all of Krag's friends and family. Inurnment will be held at the Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Sisseton, SD at a later date. There will be visitation held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 starting at 1:00 P.M. till service time at the Cahill Funeral Chapel. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Krag was born on May 20, 1957 in Britton, South Dakota to Charles and Mabel (Anderson) Almos. He grew up with 2 sisters, 1 brother, and 2 cousins on the family property at Almos Lake (North Buffalo Lake). He was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church, rural Sisseton. He attended country school at the Red Iron District School #1, and elementary schools in Roslyn and Sisseton, graduating from the Sisseton High School in 1975.

After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, serving 4 years' active duty. He earned recognition as a sharpshooter marksman. He was sent to Japan and spent 1 year on a military float ship which took him to several countries, including Norway, England, Poland, and Taiwan. He thought Norway was such a beautiful country and always wondered why his great-great-grandparents ever left there!

He was honorably discharged from the Marines in 1979. Upon returning to South Dakota he worked various construction jobs, mostly in cement/concrete work in Sioux Falls, Aberdeen and eventually working for Pitzl Construction, Eden, for many years. Following that he worked at Buffalo Lake Restaurant as a short-order cook, and was famous for baking the bread and buns.

He married BobbiJo Winder on October 5, 1991. They lived on the island at Almos Lake and raised their son KC (Krag Charles Jr.) He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his shop, doing mechanic work and fixing whatever needed to be fixed.   He liked attending gun shows and was even named after the Krag Jorgensen Rifle. He enjoyed collected guns and knives. Krag Almos, 64, of Eden, SD passed away on March 11, 2022 at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital with family by his side.

Krag is survived by his son, KC of Evans, CO; his mother, Mabel Almos; his sisters Sheila (Almos) Oreskovich and Eileen (Almos) Meyer all of Eden, SD; 4 nieces, Sarah Meyer of Mpls, MN, Abby Meyer of Sioux Falls, SD , Callie Meyer of Rapid City, SD, Nicole Oreskovich of Bismarck, ND; 1 nephews , Jared Oreskovich of Waubay, SD; cousins Don, Randy, and Diane (Almos) Brooks; one uncle, Christ Anderson and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Almos; his brother, Jack Almos, and cousin, Lon Almos.
