Funeral Service for Korbyn Scott Bertsch will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Family Life Assembly of God, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Vern Donnell officiating. Pallbearers will be Sonni Wanna, Chuck Sheperd, Duran Renville, Alex Renville, Bryson Miller, Cody Touges, Calvin Max Jr., and Sidney Wanna. Honorary pallbearers will be Seaboy Clan, Danny, Londell, Cody, Alfred, JT., Crawford Clan, Todd Goodsell, Sam Crawford, Sundance Crew, Laverne Blackthunder, Algin Blackthunder, Juanita White Eagle, and Milton Miller. Burial will be at the Sisseton Wahpeton Sioux Veteran Cemetery, Sisseton SD., following the service. There will be a Wake Service on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 7:00 P.M at Family Life Assembly of God, Sisseton, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Korbyn Scott Bertsch was born on July 24, 1970 in Sisseton, SD to Marvin and Donna (Miles) Bertsch. He attended McIntosh High School until 1988. He then went to the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota. He also served in the U.S. Army 2/41 FA of the 3 rd Brigade 31D, it was the only Brigade that deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm, which was attached to IAD Germany. Korbyn was a teacher for Tiospa Zina Tribal School for many years and loved being a teacher. He was a member of the Family Life Assembly of God Church in Sisseton. Korbyn married the love of his life, Josie Wanna on September 19, 2008. Josie and Korbyn shared 13 children together. When Korbyn passed away on October 29, his wife Josie and cousin Carrie Godfrey were there to comfort him as he made his spiritual journey. Korbyn will always be remembered for having a smile, a hug for everyone and that he loved to tease.
Korbyn is survived by his wife, Josie of Sisseton, Evan Bertsch, Ricardo Bertsch, Sidney Wanna, all of Sisseton, SD., Micheala Deloney of Odanah WI, Korbyn (Bubba) Bertsch, Magazu Bertsch, both of Watertown, Julissa Max, Calvin Max Jr., Wasusna (Bergin) Bertsch, Wakanyan Bertsch, Monika Bertsch, Reese Max, Jaia Bursheim, all of Sisseton SD., 13 grand children, numerous nieces and nephews, his parents Marvin and Donna Bertsch, sisters Edith Grefsrud, Lisa Frenier, Trish Crawford, Carmen Crawford, Brouthers Keith Crawford, Beau Crawford and Hunka Juanita White Eagle
He is preceded in death by a brother, Kim Bertsch, a sister Janet Gehring, Judy Crawford and Hunka Mom Alberta Crawford.
