Kleon Joel Kvatum was born on May 10, 1959, in Britton, SD to Edwin and Eleanor (Hutchins) Kvatum. Kleon was a jack of all trades. He attended school at Lake Area Tech to become an auto mechanic. Later working in Rapid City, SD as a mechanic. He also served in the Army and was stationed in El Paso, TX; where he was an instructor. After his time in the service, he moved back to Wilmot, SD and worked at Christenson's Cenex and then the Big Stone Power Plant where he retired after 30 years. In 1996 he married Julie Nelson and through that union two children were born Reese and Heath. There wasn't a thing that Kleon couldn't fix or teach himself to do, many people came around because they knew he would have a way to fix it. He loved to be a prankster, one of his favorites was setting off, bombs made from Welding gas. He also enjoyed driving fast, checking out car shows, and anything that had to do with cars. Kleon was always known to be a hard worker, even ask his sons who he taught many trades and they have gained a wealth of knowledge from him.
Left to cherish his memory is his soulmate Julie of Wilmot, SD; sons Christopher of Wilmot, SD; Reese (Monica Argo) of Watertown, SD and Heath of Wheaton, MN; In-laws Dewain and Dorothy Nelson of Wilmot, SD.
Kleon is proceeded in death by his mother Eleanor Osterloh; father Edwin Kvatum; stepfather Delton Osterloh; Brother-in-law Brad Nelson, and other relatives.
