Memorial Service for Kitty Gail Owen, 74 of Peever, SD will be held on Monday, November 25, 2013 at 2:00 P. M. at the First Baptist Church, Sisseton, South Dakota with Pastor Milton Owen and Jr. Heminger, CLP officiating. Organist will be Billy Kohl with special music by the Big Coulee Choir. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brennan Owen and Jace Owen, and all of Kitty's Family and Friends. There will be a Wake Service on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church, Sisseton, SD.
Kitty was born on August 8, 1939 in Seattle, WA to Steven D. and Gertrude B. (Plum) Martin. She grew up and attended school in Issaquah, WA. Following her education Kitty was united in marriage in 1955 in Everett, WA to Charles Owen. Kitty worked in the apple orchards in WA, where they lived for several years, before returning to the Peever area. The couple was involved in farming and ranching. Kitty was a member of the Dakota Riders Saddle Club. She liked to cook and care for her grandchildren. She also worked at Fredrickson Store and the Sisseton Senior Center. She loved her cats and dogs. Kitty passed away on November 22, 2013 at her home.
Kitty is survived by her two children, Steven C. Owen and Susan F. Owen of Peever, SD; one sister, Almeda Keogh of Spokane, WA; three brothers, Mike Martin of Post Falls, Idaho, Perry Hall and Babe Hall of Oregon; and two grandchildren.
Kitty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Steven D. Martin and one sister, Emey Keogh.
