Funeral Service for Kevin Jay Hensley, Wakanhdi Ohomni "Lightning Comes Around", 35 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. James' Episcopal Church, Enemy Swim, SD with the Rev. Fr. Charles Chan, Rev. Fr. Conrad Ciesel, Deacon Bitsey Ciesel and Episcopal Lay Readers officiating. Pianist will be Billy Kohl and Kay Bursheim. Pallbearers will be SGT Patrick Blue, Dakotah Wolfvoice, Christian Owens, Christopher Owens, Kenneth "KC" Owens, Dallas Boucher, Bobbie Blackthunder, Jerris Iyarpeya, Layton Owens, Jessie Rondell, Darwin Greeley, and Rob Pearson.   Honorary Pallbearers will be Julian Boucher, Randy Hensley, Michael Hensley, John Iyarpeya, Kyle Cook, George Conan Louie, Alex Owens, Randy Boucher, Sean Shepherd. Drum Group will be Long Elk. Interment will be in the St. James' Episcopal Cemetery, Enemy Swim, SD. There will be a wake services at the Enemy Swim Community Center, Enemy Swim on Monday, September 3, 2018 and Tuesday, September 4, 2018 starting at 7:00 PM. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Kevin Jay Hensley was born on June 3, 1983 in Lawrence, KS to Ronald and Arlene (Owens) Hensley. He attended school at TZ, and graduated from Moorhead High School in 2001. He continued his education at Spartan School of Aeronautics, Haskell Indian Nation University. Following his education he lived in Fargo, ND. He worked at restaurants, did building construction and was a fire fighter in Oregon and California. His hobbies were frisbie golf, swimming, skate boarding, hiking, biking, and beading. His favorite pass time was reading. He was also an artist. He worked at Dakota Sioux and Dakota Magic as a security guard. Kevin passed away on August 29, 2018 at the Coteau Des Prairies Hospital, Sisseton, SD.

Kevin is survived by his four children, Matthew Hensley of Tulsa, OK, Xander Hensley, Elysia Hensley and Izais Hensley all of West Fargo, ND; his mother, Arlene Owens of Sisseton, SD; one brother, Wesley Hensley of Sisseton, SD; three sisters, Rebecca Hensley, Nikki Brown and Sunny Brown all of Sisseton, SD; his significant other Holly St. Clarie of Fargo, ND; his many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews of the Hensley family in Oklahoma and the Owens Family of the Enemy Swim District.

Kevin was preceded in death by his Father, Ronald Hensley; his maternal grandparents, Ira and Edith (Iyarpeya) Owens and paternal grandparents, William and Marceline (Bosin) Hensley.
