Funeral Service for Kenneth Walker, 59 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD with Pastor Bob Beasley officiating. Pianist will be Carol Beasley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jesse Hamilton, Glen LaCroix, Rita Arnold, Gordon Robinson, Butch LaCroix, Delia LaCroix and Shelvie Robinson. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth George Walker was born on November 7, 1956 in Sisseton, SD to Clarence Walker and Delia (LaCroix) Welch. He attended school at Tekawitha Orphanage and finished his high school years at Thornton High School in Denver, CO where at the same time working part-time as an Orderly in a nursing home where Ken loved taking care of the elderly and also had a love for animals and hoped to someday open a Pet Rescue Sanctuary. In 1975, he proudly enlisted into the Marines and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, later transferred to Okinawa, Japan. He received a Rifle Marksman Badge and Good Conduct Medal. Then was Honorable discharged. Ken enjoyed playing chess and learning how to play the flute and guitar. Always liked going to Pow-wow's and kept busy with his artwork. Ken had moved to Portland, OR working at a Publishing Company. He met Laura Robinson and to this union they had one child, a daughter who blessed Ken with one grandchild. Ken was just getting to know his 2 year old grandson before he entered Sanford Hospital where he passed away on May 29, 2016 with his sister by his side. Ken was also blessed to have shared his life with a very "special Aunt", Rita Arnold of Denver, CO.
Ken is survived by his daughter Cora Hamilton and son-in-law Jesse; grandson Calvin Hamilton of Hagerman, ID; his mother Delia Welch, step-father Frank Welch; one sister Crystal Walker; niece Sierra Gomez; nephew Eric Walker, all from Sisseton, SD; step-sisters Danielle (Dani) and husband John Two Stars of Peever, SD, Denise and husband Ben Red Horse of Sisseton, SD; nephews Elijah Janise of Sisseton, SD, Austin Ducheneaux of Selby, SD and Wallace Ducheneaux of Sisseton, SD; niece Chelain Ducheneaux of Sisseton, SD and a lot of cousins.
Ken was preceded in death by his father Clarence Walker; one brother Baron Walker; his maternal grandmother Cora LaCriox and three uncles.
