Funeral Service for Kenneth (Kenny) J. Brown, 57 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Long Hollow District Center, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Clifford Canku Officiating. Drum group will be Cook Boys. Pallbearers will be Maurice Redday Jr., Ronald Redday, Brian Greybull, Marvin Maskewit, Freeman Hawk Jr., Michael Lawrence, Melvin "Sonny-Boy" Chanku and Darryl Renville. Honorary Pallbearers will be Stanley Lufkins, Tim Lufkins, Carl Lufkins, Wayne Lufkins, Leslie Greybuffalo, Maurice Redday Sr., Levi Keoke, Narcisse Lufkins, Brent Blackthunder Sr., Dennis Keeble, Darrell Amos, Guy Canku, Neil and Darla Bergeson. Interment will be in the Canku Family Plot, Long Hollow. There will be a Wake Service on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. and an All Night Wake Friday, June 12, 2015 starting at 7:00 P.M. at the Long Hollow District Center, Sisseton, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Kenny was born on November 8, 1957 in St. Paul, MN to Lloyd and Evangeline (Chanku) Brown. Kenny grew up and attended school in Sisseton. He attended church at the Long Hollow Presbyterian Church. When he was younger he liked spending time up in White Earth, MN with his uncles in a cabin way back in the woods with all the nature. He worked for the Rail Road, Driving Truck, and for the Dakota Waste Solutions as a roll off truck driver for many years. Kenny liked being on the road. He enjoyed working on cars, being an auto mechanic, being a handy man, listening to music and watching the Andy Griffith and Munsters on TV. He truly enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandchildren and raising his granddaughter Sydney Lawrence. Kenny passed away on June 10, 2015 in Fargo, ND at Sanford Hospital.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Connie Brown of Sisseton, SD; children Conrad Brown of Sisseton, SD, Candice Brown of Bismarck, ND, Colleen Brown of Browns Valley, MN, Erik Brown of Sisseton, SD, Dustin Brown of Sisseton, SD; one brother Leroy Brown of Sisseton, SD; two sisters Gail Brown of Sisseton, SD and Carol Brown of Sisseton, SD; and 14 grandchildren.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Evangeline Brown.
