Memorial Service for Kendra Rae Owen Gakiya Nagun Wiyan "Hears the voice in the distance woman", 28, of Watertown, SD will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at the Veblen District Center, Veblen, South Dakota with Pastor Milton Owen and Jr. Heminger officiating. Urn Bearers will be Gunner Owen, Tanner Owen, Todd St. John, Travis St. John, Terrance St. John, Wade DuMarce, Perry Lufkins and David Cloud Jr.   Honorary Urn Bearers will be Glenda Dempsey and the Special Ed Program and Staff, Alphalee Bissonette, , and New Horizons Staff. Inurnment will be in the St. Matthew's Catholic Cemetery, Veblen, SD. All night Wake Service will be in the Veblen District Center, Veblen, SD on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. Social distancing and masks are recommended but not required. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Kendra was born on March 6, 1992 at Sisseton, SD to William Owen and Jewel DeMarrias. Kendra was baptized at St. Catherine's and attended catechism classes at St. Peter's and was a regular church attendee. She grew up and attended school in Wilmot and graduated from Sisseton High School in 2011. Following her education she worked at Rainbow Day Care and then moved to Watertown, SD and she worked at the Human Service Agency, a thrift store and Dakota Sioux Casino. She liked to collect posters and DVD's. She loved going for walks, and participated in special olympics. She loved to eat at Culver's eating the triple stacked burger. Kendra passed away at Watertown, SD on September 2, 2020

Kendra is survived by her parents, William "Billy" Owen of Sisseton, SD, mother Jewel DeMarrias of Sisseton, SD; stepfather, David Cloud Jr. of Veblen, SD; sisters and brothers, Felonna White of Sioux Falls, SD, Sonny Cloud and Cistinah Cloud of Veblen, SD, Tate' Cloud of "Veblen, SD, Kenny Sneve of Vermillion, SD, Kristen Wanna of Veblen, SD, Gunner Owen, Tanner Owen of Sisseton, SD, and Piper Owen of Sisseton, SD; maternal grandmother Ramona St. John of Sisseton, SD; step grandmother, Edith MacConnell of Veblen, SD; one Aunt Barbara St. John Heminger of Sisseton, SD and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, aunties and uncles.

Kendra was preceded in death by her maternal Grandfathers, Sanford DeMarrias, Ambrose St. John; paternal grandparents Dennis and Shirley Owen, Cousins Justine DuMarce and Tyler St. John.
