Celebration of life Service for Karen Jean Richards, 81 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD, there will be visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Joshua Knudsen and Vicar Pat Schubert will be officiating. The organist will be Steve Eneboe and special music by Jenna Appel and Meranda Shindelbower.  Pall Bearers will be Brandon Steiner, Matt Richards, Nick Richards, Zach Owen, Grady Richards and Blake Steiner. Honorary Pall Bearers will be all of Karen's Friends and Co-workers. Interment will be in the Peever Cemetery, Peever, SD. There will be visitation on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the Cahill Funeral Chapel from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M.

Karen Jean Stelton was born at home on March 23, 1943, in Rosholt, SD to Ralph and Rozella (Voss) Stelton. She graduated from Rosholt High School in 1962. Karen was united in marriage to Gordon Richards on May 21, 1966. They made their home in the Sisseton area. Karen worked at Landsberger, and Melvins Café. In the very early hours of the morning, she would clean the End Zone and Sisseton Bowling Alley before heading to work in the kitchen at Sisseton Public Schools. Karen enjoyed video lottery and socializing. Nobody was a stranger for long. Karen enjoyed buying funny cards to give to family and friends. She loved her Knick knacks and jewelry. She enjoyed the game show network and spending time with family. Karen was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD. Karen passed away on September 2, 2024, at the Coteau Des Prairies Hospital surrounded by family.

Karen is survived by her husband Gordon of 58 years; four children, Ronda (Sherman) Steiner of Sisseton, SD, James (June) Richards of Sioux Falls, SD, Glenn Richards of Cold Spring, MN and Pamela  (Robert) Owen of Colton, SD; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; brother-in-law Donald Hook of Windom, TX; nephew Greg Hook of Joplin, MI and nieces Hope Daniels of Marshall, MN and Cheryl Hook of Sherman, TX; sister-in-law Delores Finnesand of Sisseton, SD; three brother-in -laws, Ernie Richards of Peever, SD, Ronald and Judy Richards of Sisseton, SD, and Steven and Kristi Richards of Sisseton, SD,

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; brother Jerry and a sister Janet Hook; her laws Marie and Bliss Richards; two brothers-in-law Merlyn Richards and Arnie Finnesand; and one sister-in-law Scottie Richards.
