Funeral Service for Justin Gordon Bagola Sr., 45, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD. Rev. Vern Donnell, and Junior Heminger CLP will be officiating. The pianist will be Billy Kohl with special music by Joe White and the Big Coulee Choir. Pallbearers will be Harold, Delmar, and Lee Bernard, Lorne Lowe, Lincoln "Sonny" Wanna Jr., Darin Gill, Dustin Robertson, and Mario Bagola. Honorary Pallbearers will be "all of Justin's co-workers at the Dakota Connection and the Dakota Sioux Casinos and all of his relatives" Interment will be in the Ascension Presbyterian Cemetery, Big Coulee, SD. There will be wake services on Monday, July 21, and Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 7:00 PM at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Justin Gordon Bagola Sr. was born on the 23rd of September 1968 to George James Bagola and Juanita Mae Owen at the IHS Hospital, Sisseton, South Dakota.
He grew up in the Sisseton area and went to grade school in Sisseton and transferred to Tiospa Zina Tribal School when it first opened. Justin was one of the very first seniors to graduate there.
Justin married Mary Shaw on May 1, 1987 and to this union were born, Kalise Lynn, Justin Gordon Jr., Valentino James, Gabrielle Mae and Jocelyn Pheonix Bagola. Justin entered the U.S. Army and served from 1988 to 1990. He worked at Dakota Connection Casino as Associate Manager for 15 years.
Justin passed away on July 19, 2014 at the Coteau des Prairies Hospital after a short illness.
Justin is survived by his children Kalise, Justin Jr. and Jocelyn Bagola of Sisseton, SD, Gabrielle Bagola of Aberdeen, SD, and Valentino Bagola of Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren; brother Derek Bagola of Sisseton, SD; sister Stephanie Bagola of Browns Valley, MN; many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Justin was preceded in death by both of his parents and both Maternal and Paternal Grandparents.
