Funeral Service for Judy Ann Lotz, 60, of Sisseton, South Dakota will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. William Schruba officiating. Organist will be Mona Greseth with Special Music by Melanie Yost and Janeen Kohl. Pallbearers will be Tim Rice, Ricky Lotz, Alan Lekness, Ronnie Bucklin, Jason Skjonsberg and Tyler Skjonsberg. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Judy's nieces and nephews. Interment will be in the One Road Bethel Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Thursday, March 24, 2011 from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service at Cahill Funeral Chapel, and one hour prior to the services in the church on Friday. Judith Ann Van Heel was born on April 14, 1950 in Sisseton, SD to James and Esther (Gilbertson) Van Heel. Judy was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church. She attended country school at One Road Township #1 and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1968. Following her education Judy worked at Stavig's Department Store. Judy was united in marriage to Wayne Lotz on September 5, 1970 at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD. The couple rented a farm where they milked cows and farmed. The couple moved to the Van Heel Family farm and lived there until the time of Wayne's death on October 22, 1994. Following Wayne's death, Judy moved the farm house into Sisseton where she lived until the time of her death. Judy worked at PCA, and then she worked at Sisseton Livestock Auction for a number of years. She also worked at other places until she retired due to health problems. Judy was sexton for One Road Bethel Cemetery for twenty four years. Judy was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Judy was well known for helping others, always ready to lend a helping hand, and for her humor. Judy passed away on March 21, 2011 at Sanford Palliative Care Unit in Fargo, ND.
Judy is survived by her son, Michael Lotz of Sisseton, SD; one granddaughter, Mary Ann Lotz of Sisseton, SD; one sister, Colleen Tank of Ellendale, ND; two brothers-in-law, Oliver and wife, Sharon Lotz of Blaine, MN, Herbert and wife, Bonnie Lotz of Pierre, SD; three sisters-in-law, Viola Hansen of Sisseton, SD, Carole Quinn of Sisseton, SD and Doris Hormann of Watertown, SD.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one granddaughter, and one brother.
